SURVEY DRAFTER - DALLAS, TX

WESTWOOD PROFESSIONAL SERVICES, INC. is seeking a Survey Drafter to join our team in our Dallas, TX office. Under the direct supervision of a Registered Professional Land Surveyor, performs entry level surveying calculations and prepares survey maps and plats for various civil engineering and land surveying projects using computer aided design/drafting software. Westwood has a highly experienced and dynamic team of individuals dedicated to providing high-level professional services to our clients. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

• Excels working in a team environment to produce survey documents meeting the project goals and objectives.
• Successfully completes assigned design task based on direction given.
• Identifies potential conflicts, issues or other problems and presents to Project Manager.
• Independently researches and implements proper survey techniques, standards, and requirements.
• Thoroughly monitors and reviews own work for accuracy and completeness.
• Utilizes project tools, such as standardized checklists, for each document to maximize quality assurance.
• Works quickly and efficiently to maintain production goals and completes assignments on time.
• Strives to continue learning new technologies and methods.

Required Skills Required Experience

• Proficient with current versions of specialized land surveying necessary applications such as AutoCAD, Civil 3D 2021, Carlson 2021, Microstation Select Series 3 and GeoPack Select Series 4.
• Proficient with other widely used computer applications (i.e., Microsoft Office).
• Basic knowledge and understanding of entry level surveying principles and procedures for land surveying and engineering surveying.
• Able to read and understand various technical documents such as deeds, plats, easements, title reports and construction plans.
• Able to prepare legal descriptions and survey plats with supervision.
• Able to clearly communicate with co-workers, clients, and review authority personnel.
• Minimum of two (2) years’ experience as a Drafter or field technician.

Minimum Registration/Education Requirements:

• 1. High school graduate or GED High School Equivalency Diploma.
• 2. Minimum of three (3) semesters of basic computer aided design/drafting courses at an accredited technical school or community college (or equivalent).
