SUMMARY
Design, plan and oversee the construction of new buildings and bridges, or alterations and extensions to existing properties or other structures. Civil engineers are primarily concerned with designing and constructing buildings and structures that are safe and capable of withstanding the elements to which they will be exposed, as well as improving the structural integrity of existing buildings.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Other duties may be assigned.
Preparing reports, designs and drawings
Making calculations about loads and stresses
Selecting appropriate construction materials
Providing technical advice
Obtaining planning and/or building regulations approval
Liaising with relevant professional staff such as architects
Monitoring and inspecting work undertaken by contractors
Administering contracts and managing projects
Inspecting job sites to check conditions/foundations
Experience with AISC codes and steel construction manual.
Experience with manual calculations for connection design in steel weldments.
Experience with preparing documents for structures/foundations to meet permit and building codes.
Experience with 3D design software such as Solidworks, Inventor, Creo, NX, Catia.
Travel to Atec Inc. subsidiaries and or project sites may be required
Ensure activities are conducted in accordance with Atec International Standards Organization (AS9100/ISO) policies and correct and report any deviations to appropriate area manager/supervisor.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

AS9100/ISO SPECIFIC DUTIES
Be familiar with and understand Atec Quality Policy and company objectives
Understand required AS9100/ISO specific Procedures and Work Instructions.
Complete all records required by Procedures and Work Instructions.
Participate in Atec Improvement Machine (AIM) as appropriate.
Participate in AS9100/ISO training as required.
Cooperate with Auditors.
Report any deviations to appropriate area manager/supervisor
EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE
A bachelors or master's degree in civil or structural engineering accredited by the Institution of Structural Engineers.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Recognized professional qualifications with the Institution of Structural Engineers a plus (incorporated engineer (IEng) status or charted engineer (CEng) status).
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
Employee is frequently required to stand, walk and sit.
Extended hours and travel may occasionally be required
