BUILD IN TULSA (BIT) - FUNDRAISING SUPPORT
WHO WE ARE:
Build in Tulsa (BIT) is an entrepreneurial engine and initiative inspired by and developed around the Centennial of the 1921 Tulsa Race Massacre. As part of Tulsa's greater Centennial effort, BIT is designed to attract Black tech entrepreneurs from across the United States to Tulsa and provide them with the resources they need to grow and achieve unicorn level success. These high-growth tech companies will be key drivers of the local Tulsa economy, eventually creating hundreds, if not thousands, of Tulsa jobs. BIT recognizes the past 100 years of trauma and economic harm that Tulsa's Black community has endured as a result of the Tulsa Race Massacre and the destruction of Black Wall Street. The initiative strives to rebuild Black Wall Street as a tech ecosystem to rebuild wealth and further the community's healing process.
OUR GOAL IS CLEAR: TO ONCE AGAIN CEMENT BLACK WALL STREET AS THE CENTER FOR BLACK ENTREPRENEURSHIP, ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, AND WEALTH CREATION IN THE UNITED STATES.
As a team focused on attracting and supporting Black-founded and Black-led tech startups, we are inspired by the promise of Black tech entrepreneurship and the power of the Black tech community as a local economic development engine. Our work will focus on everything from fundraising to strategic partnership development to event planning and program development. If you are excited about bringing operational excellence, strong implementation skills, and a can-do attitude to the BIT team, then we want to meet you!
WHO YOU ARE:
You are deeply passionate about BIT's mission to catalyze community healing, economic development, economic justice, and wealth creation. You are an organized and detail-oriented development and fundraising professional committed to owning BIT's fundraising work from beginning to end. As BIT's Fundraising Support, you will be the team's fundraising engine - the person who makes sure that the fundraising machine stays running smoothly (e.g. ensuring that BIT development, prospect lists, and pipelines are constantly filled, growing, and up to date; ensuring that all fundraising communications are responded to and acted upon immediately) and that excellence and responsiveness define all BIT interactions (online and offline) with the philanthropic, corporate, institutional, and greater donor communities. Key early responsibilities will include reviewing and refining the current funder and partnership list, creating a ‘low-hanging fruit list' of potential donors and/or donor-connected individuals who are aligned with the work of BIT (e.g. all corporations seeking to address issues of racial and economic injustice and inequity - such as JP Morgan Chase Advancing Black Pathways and PayPal; individuals shedding light on the story of Black Wall Street - such as Lebron James, Maverick Carter, and Springhill Entertainment, etc.), and crafting outreach plans and making contact with prospects through established networks. You have a passion for fundraising and a desire to use all of the fundraising experience, networks, skills, and tools at your disposal to help the BIT effort succeed at the highest level. As we move quickly to build something from the ground up that has never been seen before in America or anywhere else, you must be ready to contribute and create significant value on day one in this fast-paced and ambiguous environment.
