    JOB SUMMARY
    Back Office Assistants are directly involved in the clinical procedures that go on in the office such as handling lab orders, equipment, supplies, etc. Back Office Assistants will help the dentist, prior, during, and after the dental procedure. The Back Office Assistant should have a calm and supportive nature to assist patients and ensure their comfort during a visit.

    QUALIFICATIONS
    Education/Experience/Linguistic Ability

    • Registered Dental Assistant Certificate (Preferred)
    • Dental X-ray license
    • Coronal Polishing license (Preferred)
    • Bilingual – Spanish
    • Minimum 4 years Back Office experience (Preferred)

    Responsibilities

    · Assisting the dentist in the examination process, as well as during the procedures.
    · Operating dental equipment
    · Administering anesthesia
    · Sterilizing dental instruments
    · Responding to dental office emergencies
    · Cleaning, sterilizing, and organizing exam rooms
    · Insuring lab orders are handled properly
    · Ensure all supplies are stocked properly
    · Instructing patients on oral hygiene, postoperative procedures, and preventive dentistry

    Requirements

    · Problem solving skills
    · Knowledge of dental equipment as well as how to use and maintain them
    · Laboratory skills
    · Knowledge of safety and sanitation procedures and regulations
    · Knowledge of preventative dentistry techniques
    · Understanding of the oral anatomy
    · X-ray operation
    · Anesthesia administration
    · Sterilization procedures
    · Assist in various general dentistry procedures

    Physical Requirements

    · Ability to stand for 4 to 8 hours
    · Ability to lift overhead 10 lbs.
    · Ability to move arms continuously while operating the equipment, for the length of the shift intermittently
    · Occasional sitting, no more than 1-2 hours at a time
    · Occasional pulling, no more than an hour at a time
    · Occasional stooping, no more than an hour intermittently within a shift
