The Position: We are looking for an Actuarial Analyst interested in growing their expertise in a mission-driven environment, while working on key projects with internal and external stakeholders. This exciting role will provide you with an opportunity to support a dedicated client project team providing Medicaid specific services, while sharpening your business and actuarial acumen. In addition, you'll have the opportunity to interact with clients and participate in the many components of supporting a new business.
In the Actuarial Analyst role, you will take ownership of your work product and work closely with senior analysts and lead actuaries to effectively report on and present actuarial information. In this role, you will hone your ability to ask the right questions and demonstrate your desire to go above and beyond to serve clients, providing valuable insights that position businesses for success.
This is a paid, salaried position.
Responsibilities:
Research and gather information
Review and analyze work products, including plan data and financial statements
Provide input to the development of solutions
Learn how to use actuarial programs and Excel models
Create and update actuarial programs and spreadsheets
Assist with report preparation
Participate in Athena's strategy meetings and provide feedback on Athena community initiatives
Demonstrate exemplary level of personal and professional integrity, and ability to support and promote Athena's mission and values
Requirements:
Ideal candidates have 1 – 3 years of experience
Working towards ASA or FSA
Demonstrated experience in actuarial services through schoolwork, internship, or work experience
Creative problem-solving skills to identify flexible solutions to business questions
Insatiable curiosity and interest in learning new things
Commitment to Athena's mission, vision, and values
Ability to work independently in a remote environment
Experience in MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and MS Word

Location:** This position is remote, with those located in Minneapolis having the option to work at Athena's headquarters. There will be 2-4 opportunities to travel to other Athena hub cities for team building and in-person work weeks per year may be requested but not necessarily required.
