    Job Description

Athletes Unlimited is a new model of pro sports where athletes are decision-makers and individual players are champions of team sports. We transformed the traditional model of professional team sports to serve the needs and aspirations of both athletes and fans. Our athletes are in charge of their team and league decisions, and of their individual success. We reboot timetables, rosters, and gameplay to create fast, exciting competition that speaks to contemporary sports fans, bringing them close to the actionand to the athletesin games where every moment counts. We incorporate the player-centric model that fans love about fantasy sports. We use digital media platforms and cutting-edge technology to connect fans deeply to athletes at the top of their game on and off the field, and to the game itself.

During the season, players are drafted onto new teams every week and score points based on both team and individual performance. These points determine players individual standings and bonuses. The athletes leading in the standings become team captains and pick their teams for the next week of competition. Bonuses and points are scored throughout every game, making every minute a potential win. At the end of the season, the player leading in the standings is crowned Athletes Unlimited Champion and awarded the Athletes Unlimited trophy. Our leaderboard system helps rank players by combining individual and team performance and tracking their progress throughout the season. We believe that our new game formats and scoring systems make every moment count.

We are looking for an experienced data analyst with strong visualization skills for the business, as well as multi-sport intelligence. The Data Manager would be working with the team that is developing the leaderboard scoring system (https://auprosports.com/leaderboard/) for each sport and responsible for finding learnings from each season to report to the company and to each league's team captains. Reports would include insight into the correlation of more traditional stats from each sport with leaderboard performance. Additionally, they would work with the content team to help develop ways to tell the story of the data for fans with written and visual content. During each season, the Data Manager would help generate projections of likely results to assist in content creation and the line up of broadcast-appropriate content in advance.

Ideally, this candidate has experience working with R, but Python is also acceptable. The Data Manager role expects heavy hours during seasons, which can include weekends or holidays, but most work can be done remotely. Some travel may be required. The role is full-time and reports to the CTO, with additional direction from other company leaders.
