    Specific Job Title: Athletic Development Officer – Special Events

    Reports to : Senior Director of Athletic Development

    Job Summary:

    The person in this position will be responsible for annual fund solicitations, cultivation of new and assigned prospects, stewardship, and special events that will engage donors. S/he will create opportunities to support Athletic Department priorities and report to the Senior Director of Athletic Development.

    **Essential Functions: **

    This development professional will oversee and manage athletic development events, including but not limited to Red White Club and Champion Partners receptions, Johnnies Classic Golf Outing, Carnesecca Open Golf Outing, Evening with St. John’s Men’s Basketball, Bullpen Banquet, and An Afternoon with St. John’s Women’s Basketball.

    _S/He will also: _

    • Handle P&L Statements and pledge fulfillments for all events.

    • Be responsible for Auction Fulfillment.

    • Oversee student workers and volunteers for all special events and receptions.

    • Identify, prioritize, cultivate, and solicit current and new annual fund prospects for Athletics.

    • Assist in moving donors up the giving table, starting with $1,000+ donors.

    • Solicit gifts on own or in combination with Senior Director of Athletic Development and other Development Officers, where appropriate.

    • Coordinate with the Athletic Ticket Office on Season Ticket Holders and post-season for Men’s Basketball.

    • Manage the Priority Points system for Men’s Basketball season tickets.

    • Order official St. John’s apparel for Red White Club and Champion Partners.

    • Demonstrated knowledge of development practices and principles and a track record of success in managing major gift prospects and in securing gifts.

    • Ability to work collaboratively with colleagues and peers in the Institutional Advancement area and with internal partners and external volunteers.

    • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

    • Demonstrated interpersonal skills.

    • Flexibility with weekend and evening work will be necessary.

    **Position Type/Expected Hours of Work : **

    This full-time position requires a minimum of 40 hours per week and often requires long hours, weekends, and evening work.

    **Travel : **

    Travel is mostly within the New York Metropolitan Area. It will also include out-of-area and overnight travel.

    **Required Education and Experience: **

    • Bachelor's degree.

    • Minimum of 2-4 years of experience in development, preferably in higher education.

    In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual salary range for this position is $72,700 - $81,800.
