Position Purpose
To advance the gospel and the mission of Hill Country Christian School by supporting the health, safety, and development of student-athletes. This is accomplished by providing expert athletic training care, promoting injury prevention and rehabilitation, fostering character formation through disciplined and excellent athletic programs, and demonstrating godly interaction with students, families, and school faculty and staff.

Overview
Provide athletic training services for all student‑athletes, including injury prevention, evaluation, treatment, rehabilitation, and emergency care. Work under the direction of the athletic director, and in collaboration with coaches and administrators to ensure safe participation in athletics.
Qualifications
- Valid Texas Athletic Trainer License (LAT).
- Knowledge of:
- Injury evaluation and management
- Emergency procedures
- Rehabilitation techniques
- Exercise physiology
- Therapeutic modalities
- Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills.
- General knowledge of athletic administration
Responsibilities
Injury Prevention & Risk Management
- Identify sports and activities with the highest injury risk and prioritize on‑site coverage.
- Implement injury‑prevention strategies, taping, bracing, and warm‑up protocols.
- Ensure safe facility conditions for all athletic activities.
Injury Evaluation & Treatment
- Provide evaluation and treatment for injuries during practices and competitions.
- Deliver first aid, emergency care, and acute injury management.
- Maintain professional judgment in return‑to‑play decisions in coordination with physicians.
Rehabilitation & Reconditioning
- Develop and supervise rehabilitation programs for injured athletes.
- Apply therapeutic modalities (heat, cold, light, sound, electrical, mechanical) as appropriate.
- Track athlete progress and adjust treatment plans as needed.
Program Administration
- Maintain the athletic training room, equipment, and supply inventory.
- Keep accurate records for all athletes, including:
- Physicals
- Emergency forms
- Injury reports
- Treatment logs
- Rehab protocols
- Coordinate physical examination dates for all sports.
Student Athletic Trainer Program
- Assign and supervise student athletic trainers at all competitive events.
- Provide structured training and mentorship for student trainers.
Collaboration & Professional Conduct
- Work closely with coaches, administrators, and medical professionals.
- Enforce discipline, sportsmanship, and safety expectations.
- Maintain confidentiality and uphold district policies.
- Stay current with best practices and evolving techniques in athletic training.
Other Duties
- Perform additional responsibilities as assigned by the Athletic Director.
Physical Requirements
- Frequently move about inside campus buildings and outside on the grounds.
- Frequently communicate with co-workers and others. Must be able to exchange accurate information in these situations whether in person, via email or telephone.
- Possess the physical stamina required to fulfill the professional obligations of the coaching profession and specific coaching assignment.
- Regularly be able to lift between 5 to 50 pounds.
- Must be flexible and adapt to various coaching settings, schedules, and changes.
- Must be willing to travel with athletes to away contests and possible overnight stays.
- Possible exposure to a variety of childhood and adult diseases and illnesses.
