Job Duties of a Pipefitter Helper
Cut or drill holes in walls to permit passage of pipes using pneumatic or electric drills.
Select specific types and sizes of pipe; mount pipe hangers and brackets on walls and ceiling to hole pipe.
Assist pipefitters in installing valves, couplings, and other mechanically fastened or welded fittings.
May disassemble and remove damaged or existing piping.
Threading and grooving pipe.
Load, transport, unload, and furnish experienced craft workers with materials, tools, equipment, and supplies.
Clean the work area and restock supplies and materials as necessary.
Perform minor maintenance or cleaning of the journeyman's tools and equipment.
Exercise behavior that ensures personal safety and the safety of coworkers.
Perform other routine duties as directed by an experienced craft person.
Perform other duties as required.
Pipefitter Helper Job Requirements
Must pass a criminal background check and have a clean driving record.
Fire Sprinkler experience is a plus.
Need personal hand tools (adjustable wrench, tape measure, magnetic level, crescent wrench, and half-inch socket set).
Must be able to read a tape measure.
Two years of experience is preferred.
Must have a high school diploma or GED.
Physical Demands of a Pipefitter Helper
Must work efficiently and skillfully with hands; lift and carry objects weighing 50+ pounds consistently. Climb and maintain balance on high ladders and scaffolds and stand, stoop, kneel, or crouch for extended periods.
Pipefitter Helper Pay and Work Schedule
$15.00 – $24.00 per hour, Depending on Experience. Weekly pay while on assignment.
This is a temp-to-hire position with a company that has been in business for 100+ years in the Raleigh area.
The schedule for this position will vary depending on client needs. Candidates should be available to work day or night shifts throughout the week. Night shifts would include being able to work from 5:00 PM until 3:30 AM 4 days per week / 10 hours per day with a $2 pay differential for night hours worked.
