Legal Assistant (Tax, Estate, and Wealth Planning)
COMPANY OVERVIEW
Rapidly growing boutique wealth management firm with a high net worth retirement division (clients with $1 to $10 Million in investible assets) and a comprehensive family office service offering (for families with estates exceeding $25 Million and as high as $200 Million) with services including tax, accounting, bookkeeping, cash flow management/billpay, trust & estate planning, income and asset protection, along with the management and oversight of public and private investments including privately held businesses and investment real estate assets.
POSITION OVERVIEW
We are hiring a paralegal to join as an integral part of our growing team. This position will report directly to the CEO and will assist with onboarding new client relationships and overseeing the implementation of financial, legal and tax strategy that is customized to each family's needs. The position will require a strong foundation in the review of corporate, trust and estate and real estate related legal documents including, but not limited to: shareholder agreements, bylaws, buy-sell agreements, operating agreements, family limited partnership (FLP) and family LLC agreements, private placement offering documentation, various types of domestic and foreign grantor and non-grantor trusts, intra-family notes, deeds and more. Being highly organized and taking a systematic approach towards execution leaving no detail unaddressed and no deadline missed is absolutely essential. The ability to track and communicate progress with all internal and external stakeholders and integrate with other professionals such as various legal counselors, CPA's, insurance professionals, title companies, etc. is a must.

RESPONSIBILITIES WILL INCLUDE
Reviewing and analyzing financial, legal and tax documents
Preparing simple, easily understood and actionable correspondence
Effectively manage various projects simultaneously, pursue matters to completion with minimal supervision or direction, and take initiative to improve processes
Calendaring/docketing management for all active matters, coordinating necessary internal and external stakeholders, managing deadlines, and client calls/meetings
Preparing summaries and presentations
Researching local and state statutes, treasury and tax court rulings
Researching public and private investments and reviewing associated documentation
SKILLS
Excellent written and verbal communication skills and strong problem-solving skills
Working knowledge of estate accounting and tax computer software/systems
Ability to adapt to change and balance competing demands while working in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment
Ability to work independently and take initiative
Ability to maintain highest level of confidentiality and provide outstanding customer service to internal and external clients/contacts
Knowledge of estate, trust, tax and corporate law terminology and related documents
Prepare and understand estate and trust accounts as well as other financial reports
Compose and disseminate correspondence as required
Strong attention to detail and great organizational skills

QUALIFICATIONS
College degree and paralegal certificate or equivalent
Minimum of 5 years' experience as a paralegal with a law firm or financial institution, specializing in the areas of corporate, trust and tax law.
Experience in preparation of federal estate tax returns
Experience in preparation of federal gift tax returns preferred
Ability to draft / prepare tax forms, including but not limited to federal forms 56, 706, 709, 2848, as well as applicable local property tax and documentary transfer tax forms.
Notary or willingness to become notary preferred
Willingness to obtain additional professional licenses and designations as required by the company
Avid reader with and endless desire to learn and expand professionally
