Job Summary
As an Attending Physicians Statement (APS) Representative, you will need to use crucial communication skills to effectively obtain information in the fastest way possible with each medical office. We are looking for someone with excellent decision-making skills who has an attention for detail for the task of ensuring that vendor information is up to date and making sure medical offices are paid correctly. Responsibilities
Provide initial contact to obtain APS orders from medical offices in a timely manner and verify the contact and tax ID information on each order, including records for post issue audits. Provide correct payment for the APS using a credit card on initial contact to make the process faster when able.
Answer/respond/direct all incoming calls and emails from medical offices, agents, district managers, policyholders, and vendors to obtain the needed APS
Research policy numbers to satisfy the proper requirements on incoming faxes and emails. Accurately change the status of documents that are received and correctly scan each document to the imaging system to positively impact the timeliness of the risk decisions being made by the Underwriters during policy issue.
Aid in maintaining the 1099 database with the APS Administrator and Tax department on a routine basis to assure our providers are being paid correctly and promptly.
Maintain a courteous working relationship with medical offices and vendors to assure Alfa is being represented in a positive manner to our clients.
Education/training/other misc. tasks to improve the efficiency of the Life Underwriting Department assisting with special projects administered by the Supervisor/Analyst/Administrator.
Qualifications
High school diploma, some college preferred but may be substituted with 1 year of equivalent office experience.
2 years Insurance experience specifically in underwriting, billing or claims departments.
Alfa administered skills tests
Customer Service experience.
Strong communication skills.
Typing – minimum 40 words per minute preferred.
