Barista Job Summary
An Atticus Barista is responsible for preparing and serving coffee and other beverages to customers. Their duties include working with other Baristas and cashiers to help take orders, make drinks and provide timely service to customers. At Atticus, we encourage input from our staff for R&D of seasonal beverages and specialty drinks. Baristas, like all front of house staff, are responsible for the product knowledge of all food menu items and Atticus bread and pastry.
Requirements for position
Baristas must know the proper composition and how to make all core espresso based beverages. They must be proficient in espresso machine usage as well as how to produce proper micro foam. Must be able to follow a drink building recipe. We are aware many companies have different ideas of beverage compositions – baristas at Atticus must follow our company drink building formulas to produce drinks to our standards.
Duties and Responsibilities
Make all drinks made to order properly and in a timely manner
Ensure proper stock levels for all ingredients for made to order drinks to have a successful shift
Stock all paper goods used in the barista station
Brew coffee, tea, and lemonade to proper par level based on shift and volume
Greet customer, provide them with item information and direct them to the items location in the store
deliver informative feedback to shift supervisor and management to ensure high quality food and service, café safety, maintenance, and sanitation
uphold the core service principles of the café, and provide timely friendly service
Assisting the cashier in processing customer orders: scan, bag, and provide receipt
Build a strong knowledge of the POS system – knowing where non-bar code items are located to expedite faster scanning
Product Knowledge – learn and stay current with products sold and made by Atticus including – beverages, bread, pastry, beer, wine, and retail grocery items
assist with the smooth acclimation of new employees into the store and culture of Atticus
comply at all times with the standards, policies, and code of conduct & ethics set up by Atticus bookstore/café
perform end of shift duties as prescribed by the shift supervisor
Qualifications
Excellent customer service skills
Knowledge of all core espresso based beverages
Must know how to properly steam milk to produce micro foam
Ability to work fast, but in an efficient and controlled manor
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills towards customers and store staff
Ability to operate as a team member and get along with others
Ability to accept supervisory training related to performance, attitude, and work habits
Physical Requirements
Physical endurance to work long shifts in a busy environment.
Ability to stand 90% of the time
Ability to lift and carry 50 lbs.
Ability to work in stressful, fast-paced environment.

-Starting wage of $16.00 with the potential annual increase based on performance
