Attorney - Family Law
We are searching for a Senior-level Attorney experienced in Divorce & Family Law in New Jersey! Please keep reading because this opportunity is a chance to join a firm with a real mission that differs from most law firms! You will have a direct impact on children's lives and the future trajectory of the families you will be working with. Our firm mission is to empower fathers and men to secure their rightful position in their children's lives. We assist them in navigating family court, where we challenge biases and advocate for fairness to ensure every child feels loved and valued, recognizing the irreplaceable role of fathers. Our fundamental principles drive our business and shape our recruitment process: we are growth-oriented, objective, diligent, principled, advocates of redefinition, and a highly selective (and sought-after) boutique law firm. Operating exclusively in New Jersey, our law firm is expanding rapidly. As a crucial team member and reporting directly to the firm's owner, you will handle intricate cases, craft successful strategies, and be an integral part of the firm's growth, where your opinions and feedback matters and is encouraged, with a wide-open opportunity to reach partner status. You, as our exceptional litigator, will immediately delve into complex cases and legal matters, immersing yourself in the details and nuances (or, as we like to call it, geeking out with us). The ideal candidate for this role is a motivated litigator who excels in advocacy, strategic issue resolution, and outmaneuvering opponents. However, you also value (no, yearn) for a collaborative, high-energy setting where continuous skill development is encouraged, leading significant cases, and being part of a purpose-driven team that affects real change. Responsibilities: What else does this look like? • Reasonable 1,500 Billable Hours Annually – Maintain a steady caseload and efficient workflow to meet productivity targets. We have plenty of work, so a book of business would be a bonus, but it is definitely not required. • Maintain a 97% Client Retention Rate – Continue to deliver the excellent legal representation we are already known for, and be addicted to proactive communication, knowing that it ensures client satisfaction. • "Win" Favorable Case Outcomes Efficiently —Resolve cases strategically, aiming for fast settlements favorable to the client's short—and long-term goals. • Build Professional Relationships— Develop rapport with opposing counsel and judges to enhance case strategy and negotiations. • Mentor and Lead Junior Team and Support Members – Share knowledge and contribute to a high-performing legal team. • Expand your reputation as a thought leader— Engage in legal associations, attend CLEs, join networking organizations, and speak at vast legal events, assuming any of these are your jam. • Manage Caseload and Deadlines Efficiently – Stay organized and proactive in handling all aspects of casework. • Uphold the Firm’s Mission and Values – Advocate passionately for fathers, ensuring fairness and justice in family court. If you are looking for somewhere you can have a work/life balance, while also being known as one of the best attorneys in the industry, then keep reading! Qualifications: • Exceptional Negotiation Skills – Can talk down a raging opposing counsel and still get what’s best for the client. • Persuasive Oral & Written Advocacy – Able to make the law sound so compelling that even the courtroom bailiff is nodding in agreement. • Strategic & Creative Problem-Solving – Thinks three moves ahead—like chess, but with real-world consequences (and fewer horse-shaped pieces). • Sharp Recall & Mental Steel – Remembers case details, key issues, case law, court rules, and what the judge had for lunch last Tuesday. • Unwavering Organization & Time Management – Juggles deadlines, hearings, and client calls like a legal Cirque du Soleil performer. • Ability to Simplify Complex Legal Issues – Can explain family law in a way that even a client’s 10-year-old could understand. • Confident & Composed Under Pressure – Keeps cool when opposing counsel tries courtroom theatrics worthy of an Oscar. • Empathetic & Client-Focused – Genuinely cares about clients while maintaining just enough emotional distance to avoid needing therapy. • Resilient & Adaptable – Rolls with the punches—whether they come from an aggressive opposing counsel or a judge having a bad day. • Uncompromising Attention to Detail – Can spot a missing comma in a 30-page brief like a hawk hunting prey. • Tech-Savvy & Efficient – Can navigate legal software, e-filings, and case research faster than most people can find the TV remote. EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE: • Juris Doctor (J.D.)- from an Accredited Law School • New Jersey Active Bar Membership in Good Standing – Must be licensed and in good standing with the New Jersey state bar. • Family Law Litigation Experience— You should have successfully handled divorce, custody, and support cases—preferably the tough ones. A solid number of years of experience is preferred, but we care more about your real-life experience and prior training than the actual number of years. So, come with your best war stories!! • Courtroom & Trial Experience – Comfortable standing in front of a judge and making persuasive arguments without breaking a sweat. • Strong Negotiation & Mediation Skills – Able to resolve cases without extraordinary litigation but ready to go to trial when needed, and you get results for your clients through trial or strategic settlements. • Experience Managing a Heavy Caseload – Juggling multiple cases, deadlines, and client expectations is second nature to you. PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: • Ability to Sit for Extended Periods – You’ll spend a lot of time at a desk, but we won’t judge if you pace while thinking or use a desk treadmill. Whether it’s drafting motions, preparing for trial, or waiting for a judge to rule on a motion, that should take five minutes but somehow takes three hours. We know you know family law cases can be intense, so staying sharp and engaged for long periods is essential. • Frequent Use of Computer, Office Equipment, and Super Cool Software – Must be comfortable typing, scrolling, and clicking, using double screens, and toggling multiple software platforms all at once while embracing new tech software- because we are a big proponent of why work harder instead of smarter! • Strong Verbal Communication Skills – Arguing a case in court, negotiating with opposing counsel, and explaining legal concepts to clients all require a clear, confident voice. • Occasional Travel to Courtrooms & Client Meetings – Be prepared to commute to various courthouses when Zoom Court is not in session. • Professional Appearance – Courtroom and business attire are a must; we fight hard, but we do it looking sharp! If this position caught your eye, send us your resume! If you can upload a cover letter telling us a bit more about yourself, we'd appreciate it. We are willing to consider a hybrid or remote candidate (although on-site is preferable). Compensation: $180,000 - $210,000 yearly
