Responsibilities: • Represent clients in felony and misdemeanor matters, including healthcare fraud, domestic violence, sex crimes, white-collar investigations, gang-related cases, and post-conviction proceedings. • Draft and argue motions, briefs, and appeals with exceptional legal precision. • Develop and execute strategic defense plans, maintaining proactive communication with clients and the team. • Manage cases independently while collaborating with investigators, experts, and staff. • Participate in case strategy meetings, training sessions, and firm-wide performance reviews. • Demonstrate mastery in courtroom advocacy, negotiation, and client relations. • Contribute to firm-wide improvement by identifying operational gaps and proposing solutions, because here, every team member is a solution-finder, not a problem-finder. Qualifications: • An active membership in good standing with the California State Bar. • Minimum 2 years of experience handling criminal defense cases. Public Defender Office experience is highly preferred. • Proven track record of success in preliminary hearings and motion practice. Jury trial experience is a plus, but not required. • Strong legal writing, research, and analytical skills. • Self-starter with exceptional judgment, integrity, and attention to detail. • Excellent communication and emotional intelligence—able to connect with clients, colleagues, and juries. • Tech-savvy: experience with MyCase, Lawmatics, or similar systems is a plus. • Must be coachable, resourceful, and ready to own outcomes—not excuses.
