    At the Law Offices of Bob Nehoray, our attorneys help individuals who have been injured receive compensation for their pain and suffering, medical expenses, lost earnings and out of pocket losses. The Law Offices of Bob Nehoray is seeking a full-time, on-site Bakersfield based attorney to own workers’ compensation cases for the firm.

    Job Summary:

    The Workers’ Compensation Attorney is responsible for evaluating, managing, and resolving workers’ compensation cases from assignment through legal resolution within a high-volume practice. This role focuses on legal strategy, advocacy, negotiation, and compliance while working within a structured, process-driven case management system.

    The attorney collaborates closely with Case Managers and support staff to ensure efficient case progression, consistent outcomes, and a high standard of client representation.

    Duties/Responsibilities:

    Evaluate new and existing workers’ compensation cases to determine legal merit and appropriate strategy.

    Represent clients in workers’ compensation hearings, mediations, depositions, and other proceedings as required.

    Prepare, review, and file legal pleadings, motions, discovery responses, medical summaries, and settlement documents.

    Conduct settlement negotiations and advocate for favorable client outcomes consistent with firm standards.

    Provide legal direction and guidance to Case Managers on assigned cases.

    Review escalated or complex matters requiring attorney-level decision-making.

    Perform legal research to support case strategy and ensure compliance with applicable law.

    Communicate with clients regarding legal strategy, case status, and outcomes as appropriate, with Case Managers handling routine updates.

    Maintain accurate and timely documentation of all legal actions in the case management system.

    Ensure compliance with all ethical, professional, and regulatory requirements.

    Collaborate with leadership to improve legal workflows, consistency, and efficiency.

    Required Skills/Abilities:

    Strong legal analysis, strategic decision-making, and sound professional judgment.

    Effective oral advocacy, legal drafting, negotiation, and settlement skills.

    Clear and professional communication with clients, courts, opposing counsel, and internal teams.

    Strong time management skills with the ability to manage a high-volume caseload while meeting deadlines and quality standards.

    Ability to work within established firm processes, performance expectations, and escalation protocols.

    Ability to focus on legal strategy and execution while partnering effectively with Case Managers for case coordination.

    Adaptable and responsive to changing priorities, procedures, and case volume.

    Education and Experience:

    Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.

    Active license to practice law in California and in good standing.

    One or more years of workers’ compensation experience.

    Knowledge of workers’ compensation statutes, regulations, and procedural rules.

    Experience with legal ethics and professional responsibility requirements.

    Demonstrated ability to manage a high-volume caseload.

    Prior experience in a structured or process-driven legal environment preferred.

    Bilingual (Spanish) is a plus

    Physical Requirements:

    Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.

    Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.

    Must be able to access and navigate each department at the organization’s facilities.

    Starting base pay for this position ranges from $125,000 - $135,000 + bonuses based on performance.
