    Au Pair Weekend San Francisco Instructor Job Description (weekends, part time)

    Au Pair Weekend is seeking an energetic individual to teach approximately 5-6 times per year for an intensive weekend college program for au pairs. We are seeking qualified instructors with teaching and international experience. Please include a resume and cover letter.     Minimum Qualifications and requirements:

    Master’s degree required, preferably in a field related to the course curriculum

    Teaching experience required, preferably in a higher education setting

    International experience required, preferably living abroad experience

    Ability to take initiative and modify teaching to the needs of diverse students

    Ability to lead students both in and out of the classroom setting (must be able to walk 4 - 5 miles in a day and be comfortable leading students on public transportation)

    Passion and enthusiasm that brings energy to the program

    Job Description/Estimated Schedule:

    Work 5-6 weekends per year (Friday afternoon through Sunday evening). Our upcoming 2023 dates are July 7 - 9, August 25 - 27, October 6 - 8, December 8 - 10.

    Each weekend course is 20 hours in length, with an estimated additional 5 hours of staff preparation and meeting time per weekend.

    There are two separate weekend programs, with their own curricula: the Make A Difference and Discover the U.S. programs. Instructors will prepare for and teach several of the following lectures each weekend (curriculum provided):

    Make a Difference Curriculum: Introduction Class, Cultural Awareness, Conflict Resolution, Diversity in the US, Community Engagement

    Discover Curriculum: History of the American Dream, US Politics and Government, US Current Events, US Geography, San Francisco City Class

    Facilitate several in-class workshops, group processing and sharing activities.

    Track and monitor students within your section for attendance and assignments.

    Lead student groups as needed on the out-of-class educational and community excursions, including walking tours, museum visits, etc.

    Assist as needed to ensure weekend class runs smoothly, including assisting with food, materials preparation, public transportation coordination, etc.

    Compensation:

    Instructors will be compensated at a rate of $31/hr, after training. Instructors will complete two training /probationary weekends prior to being fully compensated, one weekend teaching and observing the Discover Curriculum and one weekend teaching and observing the Make a Difference Curriculum. Training pay is $29/hr. Up to 1 hour of prep time is included at your hourly rate for each lecture class you teach and 30 minutes of prep for each workshop you lead (one prep hour even if you teach the class multiple times). Prep time may be doubled your first time teaching a class.

We have classes in 12 major US cities and have served over 40,000 au pairs from more than 75 countries throughout the world. All of our courses are accredited by university partners, and students receive CEU (continuing education units) for completing their courses.

    Students in our courses are au pairs from countries all around the world who are currently living in the U.S. Au pairs live with host families and care for their host family’s children for up to 45 hours/week and are between 18-26 years old.
