    Job Description

    NBC Sports is seeking an experienced and highly skilled A1 (Lead Audio Mixer) to support our various sports properties. You are responsible for leading all aspects of live broadcast audio production, delivering best-in-class sound for high-profile events, will assist in setting the technical and professional standard for audio teams across remote and studio productions.

    The ideal candidate is both a technical expert and a collaborative leader, someone who thrives in high-pressure live environments, brings deep knowledge of sports production workflows, and is committed to continuous learning in an evolving IP-based broadcast landscape.

    Responsibilities:

    • Serve as Lead A1 for premier NBC Sports properties across remote and studio productions
    • Design, build, and execute complex live audio workflows for multi-platform sports broadcasts
    • Operate and program advanced digital mixing consoles (including Calrec systems)
    • Configure, manage, and troubleshoot Dante, AoIP, and IP-based audio infrastructures
    • Program and maintain intercom systems including RTS ADAM/AZ Edit environments
    • Collaborate with Production, Engineering, Comms, and Technical Management teams to ensure seamless integration of audio systems and workflows
    • Lead, mentor, and set expectations for less experienced mixers and freelance audio staff
    • Ensure consistency, clarity, and creative excellence in all elements of broadcast audio (announcer mics, effects, music, IFB, comms, etc.)
    • Diagnose and resolve complex technical issues quickly under live broadcast pressure
    • Maintain comprehensive knowledge of signal flow, routing, gain structure, and redundancy planning
  • Qualifications

    Qualifications

    Basic Requirements:

    • Minimum five (5+) years of high-level live sports broadcast audio mixing experience
    • Proven experience leading audio for major sports properties or national broadcasts
    • Expert-level proficiency with:
      • Digital mixing consoles (Calrec required)
      • RTS intercom systems and AZ Edit
      • Dante and AoIP audio networks
    • Solid working knowledge of IP-based production systems and broadcast networking fundamentals
    • Deep understanding of sports production workflows, including:
      • REMI/At-home production models
      • Studio-based sports productions
    • Solid signal flow knowledge (analog, digital, embedded audio, MADI, IP)
    • Experience integrating immersive audio formats (5.1, 5.1.4, Dolby Atmos)

    Desired Characteristics:

    • Experience with SMPTE 2110 environments
    • Familiarity with network configuration basics (VLANs, multicast, QoS concepts)
    • Prior experience mentoring or training junior mixers
    • Dante Level 3 Certification
    • Ability to perform effectively in high-pressure, live-event environments
    • Proven track record of project management
    • Exceptional communication and leadership skills
