    JOB DESCRIPTION

    Position Title: Reservations Agent Department: Reservations Reports to: Front Office Manager Status: Hourly Non-Exempt

    Compensation

    $15.00 hourly

    Summary of Position

    The reservation agent is responsible for handling reservations, inquiries and cancellations in an attentive, courteous and efficient manner, and quoting available rates to maximize room revenue according to company standards.

    Duties & Responsibilities

    Answer all phone calls promptly, in an attentive, courteous manner

    Handle all incoming e-mails and/ or faxes in a timely manner

    Update reservations ensuring a flawless check-in and check-out process

    Book reservations while focusing on maximizing room revenue and average rate using standard rate quoting scenario at all times. Up-sell whenever possible.

    Answer guest inquiries about hotel services, facilities and hours of operation. Be knowledgeable on property information as well as local area information to communicate to callers

    Effectively listening to, understanding, and clarifying concerns raised by guests

    Responsibility of handling package reservations and notifying all necessary departments of amenities

    Processing newspaper orders

    Process Advanced Deposits

    Process commissions.

    Understand the hotel’s cancellation policy

    Understand the hotel’s no show policy

    Understand the hotel’s credit policy

    Check all necessary reports on a daily basis

    Be aware at all times of the selling status, rates, packages and groups coming into the hotel

    Be willing to be trained to be competent in all MARSHA and PMS functions used by Reservations

    Understand the contents of the Marriott Rewards program

    Understand how the Sales Department, Group Housing and the Front Desk relate to the Reservations Department

    Understand the ARSO Center’s function in relation to the hotel

    Liaise with your colleagues in a helpful, friendly and courteous manner is required

    Effective communication with all departments required

    Follow department policies, procedures and service standards

    Demonstrate initiative, including anticipating guest or operational needs

    Maintain a neat and clean appearance in your dress code as well as in your work area

    Perform all reasonable requests of management, and any other duties needed to help drive our vision, fulfill our mission, and abide by our Organization's values.

    Education and Experience

    High School diploma or equivalent required

    Excellent phone skills

    Clear verbal and written communication skills

    Strong computer skills

    Must be flexible and able to work in a fast paced environment

    Candidate must have attention to detail, be able to multi-task and be a team player
