    We are seeking an Underground Construction Foreman to join our team! You will operate and repair a variety of machines and mechanical instruments.

    AuraVox, LLC has been awarded with a 5 year contract to build a fiber optic network in the Houston area and is currently recruiting for an experienced Underground Construction Foreman to join our growing team in Houston, TX.

    Position Summary:

    The Underground Construction Foreman has extensive knowledge and skill level of operating various levels of excavation equipment including all tire and track types. Understands work practices related to underground utility construction field including hand digging, trenching, directional boring, manhole conduit, and excavator methods. As the Foreman, you will supervise employees on how to operate a horizontal directional bore machine and locating box. Your overall goal is to strive for optimal production while working safely and performing quality work.

    Responsibilities:

    Operates various equipment including backhoes, excavators, dozers, plows trenchers and other machines for the installation or maintenance of underground gas utilities

    Locate and operate for Directional Bore for installation of underground conduit and fiber optic cable.

    Perform construction activities in the placement or maintenance of underground facilities including digging along and/or around existing utilities

    Responsible for daily maintenance of equipment such as maintaining fluids, greasing equipment as required and other routine maintenance as necessary

    Must be familiar with OSHA Regulations regarding trench safety and embrace HMI’s safety culture including safe operation of equipment, appropriate PPE and participating in daily and weekly safety talks

    Must have ability to conduct manual labor activities including hand digging, use of construction power tools, jackhammers, and trench tamping equipment

    Position may involve performing other duties as required, which may not be mentioned above. Specific functions may change from time to time.

    Setup and cleanup of work site including traffic and pedestrian control.

    Perform Laborer duties when bore projects are not available.

    Read utility locates and coordinating day lighting of these facilities.

    Inspect the work in progress to ensure that the workmanship conforms to specifications.

    Operate construction equipment to facilitate alignment, movement, and adjustment of machinery to conform to grade specifications.

    Level earth to final grade specifications.

    Measure distances from grade stakes, lasers and GPS coordinates.

    Move and relocate RF and Fiber service.

    Ensure safety of the public and utility underground facilities.

    Performs all duties according to prescribed safety procedures and uses appropriate safety equipment.

    Ensure all applicable permits and locates are complete and on site.

    Communicate with Team daily to turn in required paperwork (i.e., bore log, vehicle maintenance reports, etc.)

    Vehicle and equipment operations from trucks to other equipment as directed and certified.

    Perform proper maintenance by greasing, oiling, and making minor repairs on equipment.

    Lead teams in the field effectively and efficiently as needed and directed by supervisor.

    Familiar with NESC (National Electrical Safety Commission) safety guidelines.

    Minimum Qualifications:

    Three (3) years’ experience with construction, excavation, and related heavy equipment operation required

    A valid Texas license is required. A Texas CDL is strongly desired.

    Must be willing to show up on time and travel to various job locations within the Houston MSA.

    Experience with different size Boring and trenching units.

    Practical experience of underground construction for both RF and fiber. City, county and state clearance code. knowledge and related.

    Practical working experience of underground construction for both RF and fiber.

    Willing to work long days, 10+ hour days if necessary.

    Requires medium to heavy manual work that involves walking, standing, lifting, digging, pushing, and raising objects and involves exerting between 20-50 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis and 50-100 pounds of force on an occasional basis. Job may risk exposure to extreme cold/heat, bright/dim light, dusts, and pollen, wet or humid conditions, extreme noise levels, vibrations, fumes and noxious odors, traffic, and moving machinery.
