Position Overview:
The Authorizations Specialist at The Learning Tree ABA plays a critical role in ensuring that all necessary authorizations for services are obtained in a timely and efficient manner. This position involves close collaboration with insurance companies, clients, and internal teams to manage authorizations for Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA) services. The ideal candidate will be detail-oriented, organized, and capable of handling multiple tasks with precision and professionalism.
Key Responsibilities:
Authorization Management:
Obtain initial and ongoing authorizations for ABA services from various insurance providers.
Track and monitor authorization expiration dates and ensure timely renewals.
Ensure all necessary documentation is completed and submitted to insurance companies for authorization requests.
Communication and Coordination:
Liaise with BCBAs, RBTs, and other team members to gather required clinical information for authorizations.
Communicate effectively with insurance companies to resolve any issues related to authorization requests.
Serve as the primary point of contact for families regarding authorization statuses and related inquiries.
Documentation and Compliance:
Maintain accurate and up-to-date records of all authorization requests, approvals, denials, and renewals in the company's system.
Ensure compliance with all insurance company requirements and industry regulations regarding authorizations.
Assist with audits by providing necessary documentation and information.
Collaboration:
Work closely with the billing department to ensure authorized services align with billing and reimbursement processes.
Collaborate with the intake coordinator and clinical teams to streamline the authorization process and enhance client satisfaction.
Qualifications:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; associate’s or bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
Experience:
Previous experience in medical authorizations, billing, or a related field is required.
Experience in the healthcare or ABA industry is highly desirable.
Skills:
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and experience with healthcare management software.
Attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
