    BOARD MEMBER, SECRETARY (VOLUNTEER POSITION) REMOTE WORK Are you looking for an opportunity to help improve the wellbeing of Autism families? Are you a student, a recent College/University graduate or retiree with a Business, Finance, or Administration background? Have you or someone in your family been impacted by Autism? Autism Wonders may be the perfect fit for you. We are looking for a motivated individual with the right combination of experience, education, and a passion for the Autism community to serve as the Secretary for the Board of Directors of Autism Wonders Inc.

    As the secretary, you will play a pivotal role in organizing, preparing, reviewing and applying for all documentation related to Autism Wonders and its partners and stakeholders. Working closely with the Board, Coordinate the planning and consultation phase of our annual autism outreach program in Africa and the Caribbeans, as well as play a leadership role in the programming and staffing plan for the upcoming opening of the Autism Wonders Childcare Program.

    ABOUT US Autism Wonders Inc is a newly formed U.S based non-profit organization offering education and support services to African and Caribbeans in the diaspora with children and family members living with Autism. We are de-stigmatizing autism, offering education and resources about autism, providing a culturally sensitive support environment, and creating networks for autism families to support each other and build hope along their autism journey. Our mission is to empower and improve the overall well-being of families impacted by autism through our three complementary programs: The Autism Wonders Family Support Group, the NK Autism Wonders Foundation, and the Autism Wonderland Childcare Program.

    KEY RESPONSIBILITIES OF THIS POSITION

    • The board secretary will be required to attend Board and Committee meetings; take minutes; determine meeting room/electronic communication and equipment/technical set-up requirements and make appropriate reservations for all Board, Committee, and any other ad hoc meetings, as required.
    • You will be required to compose and draft emails, correspondence, reports, and presentations on behalf of Autism Wonders and members of the Board of Directors as required.
    • You will be expected to maintain and keep all records of Autism Wonders.
    • You will be working closely with the Board, will be requested to initiate contact with a broad range of management/staff and external stakeholders to provide or request information on behalf of Autism Wonders
    • Working closely with the board, you will be required to write proposals on behalf of
    • Autism Wonders to seek funding from different levels of government, stakeholders, and philanthropists

    LOCATION: Remote

    HOURS: Approximately 8 hours a month

    SALARY: This is an un-paid volunteer position, but the Secretary as a member of the Board of Directors, may be compensated from time to time whenever applicable

    EDUCATION

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENT: Associate Degree/Diploma in Business Administration, Finance, Human Resources, Marketing, or any related field will be an asset.

    Bachelor's Degree or Higher is preferred

    EXPERIENCE

    • Demonstrated experience in Minutes taking, Proposal and Grant writing will be an asset
    • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, Teams, Adobe)
    • Detail oriented with ability to organize tasks, research, and keep records.
    • Strong knowledge and passion about autism and its impact on families, particularly the African and Caribbean families will be preferred.

    DESIRED SKILLS AND TRAITS

    • Excellent communication skills, both written and oral, with a good sense of judgment and discretion.
    • Strong interpersonal skills: respectful and professional with the ability to work with people of diverse backgrounds.
    • A self-starter, detail-oriented, punctual, and consistent
    • A second language relevant to the African or Caribbean community will be an asset but not required
