    Position Description - Capital Project and Risk Coordinator

    Position Summary:

    Reporting to the Assistant Controller and assisting the Associate Vice President for Budget and Planning, this position is responsible for maintaining and reporting on capital budgets and projects and assisting with the University's insurance and risk management program and related activities.

    Responsibilities:

    • Coordinate and assist with the preparation of the University's annual capital projects budget, including forecasting and cash flow projections
    • Monitor capital budget activities and prepare related financial reports, including the monthly Active Capital Report and Board reports
    • Coordinate capital grant application process, as necessary
    • Close out completed capital projects
    • Work collaboratively with the staff of Facilities, Design and Construction and other departments as necessary, on capital related matters
    • Assist with the insurance program renewal and negotiation process
    • Coordinate the insurance claims process
    • Manage FEMA claims and filings, as applicable
    • Serve as liaison for the University's third-party risk management program
    • Review vendor Certificate of Insurance submissions
    • Monitor daily public safety incident reports
    • Maintain and reconcile insurance reserve account
    • Responsible for completing eligibility requirements for the annual insurance program credit
    • Perform other related duties and special projects as may become necessary

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field required
    • Experience working on insurance portfolios and claims is preferred
    • Knowledge of accounting principles and financial analysis
    • Attention to detail and accuracy in financial reporting
    • Must possess excellent analytical, organizational, and time management skills
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both verbal and written
    • Successfully demonstrated ability to set priorities and work on multiple tasks
    • Ability to work as part of a team
    • Must be knowledgeable of automated financial systems and financial software and spreadsheet applications, and other financial tools
    • Knowledge of Ellucian Banner financial systems a plus
    • Adaptability to work in a fast-paced environment and adjust to changing priorities accordingly.
    • Must demonstrate a history of independent judgment, initiative, and problem-solving
    • Strong work ethic and eager to learn and be challenged

    In compliance with NYC’s Pay Transparency Act, the annual/hourly salary range for this position is $65,000 - $70,000. St. John’s University considers factors such as (but not limited to) scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate’s work experience, education/training, key skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.

    This position may be relocated to any of St. John’s University’s physical locations at any time.
