    POSITION SUMMARY

    Supervises the activities of hourly associates to achieve optimal levels of safety, quality, productivity and delivery to assure internal and external customer satisfaction on our off-shift. 

     

    PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Support the Company’s mission, vision, values and goals in performance of daily activities.
    • Responsible for performance feedback and leadership of all direct reports including mentoring, coaching, counseling and corrective action when situations dictate.
    • Provide key input into the development of departmental strategic goals along with identifying key measurable to support the departmental goals.
    • Provide direction and leadership consistent with plant business plan goals.
    • Responsible for maintenance department safety, quality, production and delivery objectives in his/her area of responsibility.
    • Responsible for maintaining and repairing equipment to support production jobs.
    • Responsible for managing the preventive maintenance schedules.
    • Responsible for ensuring accountability and discipline.
    • Responsible for maintaining maximum levels of press utilization and efficiency.
    • Drive shift manning levels and utilization to assure compliance to budget.
    • Provide leadership and promote positive moral and ensure a total team concept.
    • Provide the proactive leadership necessary to achieve and maintain a continuous improvement mind set for the team.
    • Coordinate and assess required training and team building.
    • Coordinate and assist in new associate orientation.
    • Complete individual work team performance reviews for probationary associates.
    • Track, monitor and implement required improvement activities related to business plan goals and issues.
    • Assist with plant activities to achieve quality, productivity and cost reduction goals.
    • Provide associates with the necessary training to be successful in their roles.
    • Communicate and prioritize daily work assignments to the team.
    • Enter work orders into the MLS system.
    • Assure work orders are completed in an efficient and timely manner.
    • Communicate the overtime schedule to the work team.
    • Assist in new job set-up.
    • Input individual associate hours into the time keeping system
    • Maintain the communication scoreboards for each line on a daily basis.
    • Communicate key information to the organization through the daily “shift to shift” communication plan.
    • Champion assigned engineering changes communicate and coordinate accordingly to all departments.
    • Participate in root cause analysis and team problem solving activities (ex. 8D reports, department meetings, etc.).
    • Support plant activities towards achieving customer awards and quality registrations (ex. TS 16949/ISO14001).
    • Prepare all accident reports to include identification of root cause and corrective action.
    • Assure all direct reports are aware of their Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) responsibilities and hold all direct reports accountable.
    • Responsible for ensuring the entire team has the necessary tools and materials to properly perform their roles safely and efficiently.
    • Assure all safety devices are properly in place and utilized and verify individual usage of personal protection equipment (PPE) by the work team.
    • Responsible for following all internal and OSHA required safety procedures in performing all daily work activities.
    • Maintain a positive working relationship with all levels of the organization.
    • Maintain high level of housekeeping in the work area.
    • Adherence to all company policies and procedures (ex. Quality Policy Manual, Associate Handbook, Level II procedures, etc.)

     

     RELATIONSHIPS/CONTACTS

    Reports directly to Maintenance/Engineering Manager.  Interfaces on a frequent basis with the Production, Quality, Tool & Die, Materials, Human Resources and Engineering Departments.  Also interfaces on an as needed basis with the Information Technologies and Accounting Departments.
