Automation Controls Engineer
Job Summary
The Automation Controls Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting automation solutions that improve efficiency, reliability, and performance within a manufacturing environment. This role focuses on PLC programming, electrical systems, and automated equipment supporting plant operations.
Key Responsibilities
Identify opportunities to automate and optimize manufacturing processes
Design, simulate, test, and implement automation equipment and systems
Program and modify PLCs and automated components
Develop and maintain clear technical documentation and schematics
Troubleshoot automation systems and resolve equipment or process issues
Support commissioning, upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives
Provide technical training to operations and maintenance teams as needed
Support plant operations, including occasional after-hours remote support
Qualifications
Engineering degree with 3–5 years of plant-based technical experience
OR technical degree with 7 years of relevant manufacturing experience
Strong experience with PLCs, electrical schematics, and low to medium voltage equipment
Proven ability to design, validate, and troubleshoot automation systems
Manufacturing or rolling industry experience preferred
Strong problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills
Willingness to learn, grow, and share technical knowledge
