    Automation Controls Engineer

    Job Summary

    The Automation Controls Engineer is responsible for designing, implementing, and supporting automation solutions that improve efficiency, reliability, and performance within a manufacturing environment. This role focuses on PLC programming, electrical systems, and automated equipment supporting plant operations.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Identify opportunities to automate and optimize manufacturing processes

    • Design, simulate, test, and implement automation equipment and systems

    • Program and modify PLCs and automated components

    • Develop and maintain clear technical documentation and schematics

    • Troubleshoot automation systems and resolve equipment or process issues

    • Support commissioning, upgrades, and continuous improvement initiatives

    • Provide technical training to operations and maintenance teams as needed

    • Support plant operations, including occasional after-hours remote support

    Qualifications

    • Engineering degree with 3–5 years of plant-based technical experience
      OR technical degree with 7 years of relevant manufacturing experience

    • Strong experience with PLCs, electrical schematics, and low to medium voltage equipment

    • Proven ability to design, validate, and troubleshoot automation systems

    • Manufacturing or rolling industry experience preferred

    • Strong problem-solving, communication, and documentation skills

    • Willingness to learn, grow, and share technical knowledge
