    About Sentinel Blue

Sentinel Blue is a values-driven Managed Security Service Provider (MSSP) committed to safeguarding our clients within the defense industrial base and broader government contracting community. Founded on trust and a relentless pursuit of excellence, our mission is to deliver scalable, comprehensive cybersecurity solutions that empower our partners to achieve long-term sustainability, regulatory compliance, and business success.

    The Role: Automation Engineer

We're looking for a capable, curious, and committed Automation Engineer to help us accelerate and mature our internal tools and client-facing automations. You'll be embedded in the heart of Sentinel Blue's engineering operations, building integrations across Microsoft 365, Azure, and MSP platforms like RMM, PSA, and compliance tooling. You'll work across the stack and the organization: scoping automation projects, writing code and scripts, integrating with APIs, diagramming your solutions, and pushing them into production.

This role is ideal for someone with automation experience who thrives on identifying friction points and eliminating them through elegant, secure, and documented automation.

This is a full-time position that is fully remote. Due to the nature of our work, you must be a U.S. citizen with eligibility for a clearance. No exceptions.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Design and implement secure automations across Microsoft 365, Azure, and MSP toolsets
    • Build and maintain integrations using RESTful APIs (Graph API, vendor APIs, etc.)
    • Develop and maintain scripts and tools using PowerShell, Python, or Bash
    • Plan automation projects from scoping through delivery—including testing, documentation, and rollout
    • Diagram and document automation solutions for both technical peers and non-technical stakeholders
    • Collaborate with security, support, and compliance teams to ensure automation aligns with security best practices
    • Participate in code reviews and contribute to version-controlled repositories (Git/GitHub)
    • Lead initiatives that improve efficiency, reduce manual work, and increase service quality across the business

    We're Looking For Someone Who

    • Has hands-on experience working with and connecting APIs
    • Can confidently write and maintain production-grade scripts in PowerShell, Python, and/or Bash
    • Thinks like an engineer and a security practitioner—considering access control, auditability, and integrity in all solutions
    • Has planned, scoped, executed, and delivered automation or integration projects end-to-end
    • Communicates clearly—especially when writing documentation for others
    • Can operate both independently and as a team leader on cross-functional projects
    • Understands how to map problems to solutions, systems to workflows, and complexity to clarity
    • Wants to be part of a team that truly gives a damn, enjoys the journey, and builds things the right way

    Requirements:

    • U.S. citizenship
    • 3+ years of experience automating, scripting and/or programming

    Preferred Qualifications

    • Strong familiarity with Microsoft 365, Azure AD, and Graph API
    • Experience integrating or automating RMM tools, PSA platforms, or compliance systems
    • Exposure to version control systems (Git/GitHub) and CI/CD pipelines
    • Comfort working in fast-moving, dynamic environments with high standards and high trust
    • Ability to create architectural diagrams and user-focused documentation

    Benefits:

    • Fully paid individual healthcare, vision and dental insurance for the employee.
    • Paid certification and training opportunities.
    • Three weeks of paid vacation + 10 paid holidays.
    • A supportive environment with a focus on keeping healthy work-life balance.
    • Retirement benefit (401k) with company match.
