    About the Role

    CRB is looking for an energetic, self-motivated individual for the role of Automation Project Manager. The Automation Project Manager will lead the integration and delivery of Automation services on capital projects for our Life Sciences clients. Their focus will be to improve our Automation delivery and turnover of operationally ready and licensable facilities. The Automation Project Manager will provide oversight and guidance for their assigned regional projects from proposal stage to facility turnover. This position requires a high level of organization, communication, and leadership; and the qualified candidate will have excellent interpersonal skills with internal and external clients. Coordination with internal and external engineers as well as clients, construction manager, subcontractor and vendor interfaces are expected.

    This role will have the ability to successfully execute and lead (on moderate complexity projects) all phases of design including initial programming, planning, feasibility, scope and concept development, detailed design, construction documentation and construction administration, or hold primary responsibility for one or more automation systems on a large project.

    They will represent CRB in a professional manner, assist in winning work, and understand how their strategy directly impacts our collective success.

    Core Activities

    • Interfaces with clients and external partners.
    • Plans and directs work and manages a project budget from a discipline design perspective on small projects of limited complexity.
    • Supports proposal development under the supervision of a Lead or Senior Engineer.
    • Identifies basic non-compliant existing conditions during site walks and construction field surveys.
    • Develops basic internal discipline design and engineering training presentations.
    • Develops construction drawing packages and writes construction specifications on intermediate projects of limited complexity and with little oversight.
    • Leads squad check and discipline check for small projects of intermediate complexity and drives overall project quality.
    • Provides mentorship to discipline Engineer I and/or Designer I and II.
    • Leads intermediate project system design programming and master planning with support from Lead or Senior Engineer.
    • Establish the Automation strategy with client’s Automation and Process teams
    • Active management of internal and/or external Automation resources on projects
    • Lead the development of specific Automation plans and ensuring integration with design and construction plans
    • Work with CQV team to determine delivery strategy for regulatory documents
    • Drive new and innovative ways to integrate Automation delivery efforts into ONEsolution™ to further compress schedules and lean out processes
    • Develop and manage execution schedule and planning efforts on all ONEsolution™ projects
    • Manage our partners and/or build a group to execute the integrated delivery strategy
    • Drive global Projects and Initiatives, act as an SME and provide project support for critical Automation projects as required
    • Knowledge of US FDA 21 CFR Part 11 requirements
    • Knowledge of primary industry guidance on Automation system design and validation, including but not limited to:
      • ISA Standards for Automation
      • ISPE GAMP V, A Risk Based Approach to Compliant GMP Computerized Systems

    Minimum Qualifications

    • Bachelor’s Degree (or above) in Engineering, or Construction Management preferred, or 10 years of relevant industry experience.
    • Minimum of 5 years of Automation design and/or integration experience in the biopharmaceutical industry; Sound technical knowledge of both US and global regulatory requirements as it pertains to electronic systems .
    • Demonstrated effective leadership, financial management and collaboration skills.
    • Interpersonal and leadership skills necessary to communicate clearly, and effectively manage Automation activities with all levels of personnel from various disciplines across the organization.
    • Direct experience in producing and managing Automation deliverables.
    • Direct experience in managing Automation projects.
    • Experience managing Automation design and/or startup teams is preferred.
    • Experience in managing both internal and external customers and stakeholders simultaneously.
    • Experience in evaluating existing conditions around control systems via site walks and construction field surveys.
    • Ability to leads squad check and discipline check for small projects of intermediate complexity and drives overall project quality.
    • Direct experience and familiarity with all phases of design and construction in Life Sciences capital projects.
    • Provides mentorship to discipline Engineer I and/or Designer I and II.
    • Leads intermediate project system design programming and master planning with support from Project Director.
    • Excellent organizational, interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills. Expected to interface with clients and external partners.
    • Commitment to technical excellence, as well as creating world-class experiences for our clients and employees.
    • Occasional Business travel (10 - 30%) may be required
