    A Mineral-based products company with multiple mines and plants in the US needs an experienced Automation and Controls Engineering Manager to help maintain and develop new control systems strategies for the company facilities.

    RESPONSIBILITIES:
    • Develop a vision and strategy for the next generation of automation systems across the North American sites
    • Support & manage automation activities across the North American sites
    • Manage Automation engineers and work with Maintenance, Process, IT, Engineering, and Operations teams to design and implement improvements in process networks, process controls, and equipment
    • Support and lead automation upgrades and implement corporate process control strategies and standards
    • Coordinate and support the implementation of plant process network and automation improvement projects
    • Support design, program, specify, purchase of process control and automation systems in the plants
    • Support maintenance and programming of Wonderware Intouch, Wonderware System Platform, Wonderware Historian, Rockwell PlantPAx and FactoryTalk View
    • Programming and documentation of all PLC logic and I/O
    • Collaborate with IT to segregate IT/OT networks and implement cybersecurity
    • Regularly complete install base assessment of all existing hardware/software
    • Maintain regular backup of all devices (VMs, PLCs, HMI’s, Switches, VFDs, etc)
    • Maintain up-to-date network architecture diagrams

     

    Essential Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

    • Knowledge of ControlLogix family of PLC system design and demonstrated capabilities with computers, Allen-Bradley VFD’s, Wonderware SCADA systems, process instrumentation, Advanced Process Control software, and Ethernet networks.
    • Experience with Allen-Bradley, ControlLogix PLCs, Wonderware/Aveva Archestra, Historian, AutoCAD, MSSQL, and other Microsoft Application software
    • Industrial and Enterprise Network design and maintenance experience
    • Demonstrated experience acting as a coach, engaging others effectively and positively and offering feedback in a constructive, tactful manner
    • An agent of change, demonstrating and encouraging positive behaviors with a focus on the power of teamwork and building trust
    • Self-starter, methodic and well-organized
    • Strong computer skills and proficiency with Excel, PowerPoint, and Word
    • Strong communication skills (oral, written, and presentation)
    • Strong leadership, interpersonal, analytical, and problem-solving skills
    • Able to read, write, and interpret documents such as work orders, safety rules, standard operating procedures, electrical drawings, maintenance instructions

    Physical Demands include, but are not limited to:

    • Must be able and willing to travel up to 40%, mostly in the US but also in Canada
    • Tolerate working outside in severe weather conditions as well as exposure to high temperatures, noise, and dust
    • Access all areas within a site which could include heights of 120 feet, confined spaces, climbing ladders or stairs, and accessing tunnels
    • Able to lift over 70 pounds.
