    Our client is a family-owned and operated industrial automation sales company looking to hire their next full-time PLC SCADA Programmer. They are a major distributor of process instrumentation products and related services to customers in the Midwest for the last 60 years.

    The ideal candidate will have abilities to interface with customers to fully develop an understanding of customer needs and maintain open channels of communication with both internal and external partners to ensure all customer needs are met. Occasional travel to local territory will be required during normal business hours. A clean driving record is required.     Responsibilities for the PLC SCADA Programmer

    • Knowledge of PLC/RTU programming and HMI (Human Machine Interface) screen development software to boost efficiencies and production processes.
    • Ability to program using iFix, RSView, Wonderware, Iconics and Allen Bradley PLC’s, such as Micrologix, CompactLogix and ControlLogix.
    • Ability to independently multi-task and manage projects and provide excellent customer service and support to customers from all tiers of an organization
    • Plan details of working procedure by determining replacement needs or new material required and develop a logical approach to correct the problem.
    • Analyze circuits, wiring diagrams and drawings to install, repair, calibrate, service or replace electronic devices and systems.
    • Receive wiring diagrams, specifications and instructions from supervisor covering emergency and scheduled repair, installation, and electrical inspection work to be performed.
    • Perform work requiring a thorough knowledge of electrical theory and principles, statutory codes, properties of materials and principles of operation of electrical equipment. Start-up and shut-down equipment in accordance with established company and OSHA safety procedures for machine activation and shutdown. Observe “Lockout/Tagout” procedures as required.
    • Service electronic equipment by checking, testing, and replacing faulty components, circuits, printed circuit boards, and similar electronic devices.
    • Advise and caution operations and maintenance staff about potential electrical problems and inherent dangers involved.
    • Notify supervisor of potentially dangerous and/or recurring electrical problems, equipment malfunctions and supplies needed. Take related corrective action(s). Order replacement parts ensuring no loss in production time due to equipment maintenance and repair.
    • Follow established safety procedures. Use necessary personal protective equipment. Ensure all work meets regulatory requirements.
    • Familiar with devices such as pressure differential gauges, transducers, panel meters, load cells, temperature controllers, variable speed drives, programmable logic controllers, running circuits and installing electrical conduit.

    Requirements for the PLC SCADA Programmer

    • Experience with electrical aspects of hydraulic, mechanical, PLC, robotics equipment
    • Able to climb in overhead structures, work beneath machines and in close quarters performing analysis and/or repair work
    • Able to use general shop equipment, tools and hand tools
    • Familiar with electrical schematics and the understanding of what each component contributes to that circuit, able to read electrical meters.
    • Able to work on equipment with or without schematics.
    • High degree of precision working with minimal tolerances required
    • High degree of attention and care required to prevent injury to self and others
    • Comfortable working with and around high voltage equipment
    • High level of mental and visual acuity.
    • Able to reach, stretch, sit, stand, lift, bend and squat with weight up to and over 75 lbs.
    • PC and database literacy with common programs, such as Microsoft Office Suite

    Education/Experience for the PLC SCADA Programmer

    • Minimum requirements for consideration include 2 years’ experience PLC programming with technical or vocational training and some electrical and/or voltage training/experience
    • Acceptable candidate will have over 4 years’ experience PLC Programming and a collegiate or technical degree in a related field with specific experience in creating and installing PLC and HMI programs.
    • Ideal candidate will exceed acceptable requirements and have specific experience with iFix, RSView, Wonderware, Iconics and Allen Bradley PLC’s, such as Micrologix, CompactLogix and ControlLogix
