    We're seeking a detail-oriented and experienced Payroll Specialist to join our growing automotive repair company. You'll play a vital role in ensuring our employees across multiple states and locations receive their compensation accurately and on time. We currently have approximately 100 employees across 4 states and growing! Candidate must reside in the Greater Houston area!

    Responsibilities:

    Oversee and process all weekly payroll for both on cycle and off cycle (considering both hourly and commission-based pay structures). Process manual checks, including final checks as needed.

    Ensure accurate calculations of base pay, overtime, commissions, bonuses, and deductions based on individual pay plans and state and federal regulations.

    Responsible for creation and/or update of all SOP’s related to payroll support and processing.

    Maintain time and attendance records, verifying timecards for completion and approval prior to payroll processing. Look for missed punches and communicate discrepancies or issues to district managers and employees as appropriate. Ensure absences are properly paid.

    Regular weekly audit of attendance and paid time off records for non-exempt employees, correcting balances as necessary.

    Address and resolve payroll discrepancies and employee inquiries.

    Generate and analyze payroll reports as requested. Monitor and report on key payroll metrics to executive leadership.

    Participate in end-of-month closing and audits. Conduct year-end reporting for W-2s etc.

    Manage employee data in HRIS system – processing employee changes timely and accurately.

    Processing 401K loans and distributions and assisting in managing 401K contributions.

    Perform administrative tasks including filing, record keeping, and audits (e.g., annual audits).

    Participate in special projects as needed.

    Work closely with HR and Finance teams to align payroll with company policies and procedures.

    Other duties as assigned.

    Qualifications:

    Minimum of 3 years of experience in payroll processing, preferably in a multi-unit, multi-state environment.

    Strong understanding of payroll accounting principles.

    High level of Microsoft Excel Proficiency

    Proven experience with payroll processing software such as ADP Workforce Now.

    Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.

    Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

    Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

    Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

    Knowledge of automotive repair industry compensation structures (a plus).
