About Kerner’s Auto Service
Kerner’s Auto Service has proudly served Shelby Township since 1973. We are a fast-paced, full-service independent repair facility working on all makes and models. Our shop is clean, organized, and built around professionalism, training, and long-term career growth.
We are not looking for an entry-level lube technician.
We are seeking a career-minded General Service Technician with at least 3 years of hands-on experience performing mechanical repairs beyond basic oil changes and tire rotations.
The Role
We’re looking for a technician who is building strong technical skills and takes pride in doing maintenance and light-to-mid-level repairs the right way. This role supports shop efficiency by completing work accurately, following procedures, and working reliably alongside senior technicians and leadership.

What You’ll Do
Perform routine maintenance including oil changes, tire rotations, and fluid services
Complete brake, steering, suspension, and cooling system repairs
Perform mechanical repairs beyond basic maintenance
Assist with engine performance and light diagnostic work
Use scan tools and basic diagnostic equipment
Complete thorough digital vehicle inspections and document findings
Support workflow by moving vehicles and assisting other technicians
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area
Work closely with service advisors to ensure efficiency
Participate in paid training and ASE certification advancement

Requirements (Non-Negotiable)
Minimum 3 years of automotive repair experience
Experience performing mechanical repairs beyond oil changes
Ability to use scan tools and diagnostic equipment
Strong understanding of vehicle systems
Valid driver’s license
Professional attitude and team mindset
Strongly Preferred: ASE or state certifications
