Responsibilities: • Help establish service protocols for tracking the status of repairs, maintaining relevant technical manuals, using charts, and more for all of our dealerships • Determine and investigate any malfunction codes in the vehicle’s integrated diagnostic system using skilled expertise and diagnostic tools • Follow all manufacturer specifications for vehicle system repairs to ensure optimum customer satisfaction and facilitate returning business • Conduct routine maintenance, as needed, such as fluid level checks, tire rotations, brake pad replacement, or oil changes • Examine all vehicle systems such as the air conditioning, engine, transmission, and brake systems with a step-by-step approach • Perform thorough multi-point inspections on incoming used vehicles • Diagnose mechanical and electrical issues using diagnostic equipment • Conduct repairs and maintenance, including brakes, suspension, engine, transmission, electrical systems, and HVAC • Prepare used vehicles for resale by ensuring they meet dealership and state safety standards • Accurately document all work performed and parts used in repair orders • Collaborate with service advisors and used car managers to prioritize repairs and meet deadlines • Maintain a clean and organized work area • Adhere to all safety and environmental guidelines Qualifications: • Excellent customer service and communications skills are necessary • Completion of a certified post-secondary training program is mandatory; an associate degree is ideal • Automotive Service Excellence /ASE certification or Society of Automotive Engineers /SAE certification is preferred • High school diploma or equivalent; technical school training is a plus • Minimum of 2 years of experience as an automotive technician, preferably with used vehicles • ASE certifications preferred (or willingness to obtain) • Strong diagnostic and troubleshooting skills • Valid California driver’s license and clean driving record • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment • Owning basic hand tools, the dealership or shop may provide specialty tools Compensation: $25 - $35 hourly
