    Who We Are

Carnegie Robotics designs and manufactures advanced robotics systems and components for defense, agricultural, mining, industrial, and off-road autonomy applications. Our ruggedized solutions can meet the challenges of any industry, providing effective and efficient answers for even the toughest problems.

    Who We're Looking For

We are a dynamic team committed to making the impossible possible. Our staff comes from diverse backgrounds and skill levels, fueling our ethos of collective growth and passion towards our work. We warmly welcome individuals of similar mindset to join our ranks.

    What You'll Be Doing

Carnegie Robotics has a growing line of Autonomous systems. Applications include commercial equipment such as floor scrubbers and pallet jacks, off road vehicles such as side by sides, and a variety of military vehicles. Each project presents unique design challenges due to the nature of the host platform, and the customer's desired application of that platform. As an Autonomous Systems Electrical Engineer you will work to meet our customer's needs. This includes participating in developing requirements, identifying integration strategies, selecting electrical hardware to enable autonomy, performing the system level design, and working with technicians and software engineering to test and deploy the autonomous vehicles you've developed.

CRL design efforts cover the full range of technical readiness levels from early technology demonstrators and prototypes all the way through volume manufacturing of our products. Regardless of the life cycle, and whether the emphasis is on safety or manufacturing yield, strong engineering rigor through deep theoretical knowledge, analysis, and testing are required in this position.

Each program at Carnegie Robotics is unique, and you will need to align your engineering methods to support the goals of the program. This will vary between speed and cost over your career at CRL, but performance and quality will always be priority #1. As you contribute to some of the most advanced robotic systems around, you will be supported by your teammates including a Technical Program Manager and other discipline experts in the fields of Mechanical, Systems, and Software Engineering.

    What You'll Have

    • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in Electrical Engineering
    • 3+ years work experience
    • Working knowledge how to implement autonomy on a vehicle
    • Experience with LIDAR, Radar, cameras, wheel encoders, computing systems, and other electrical elements required for autonomous systems
    • Experience with vehicle communication busses such as CAN Bus and Ethernet
    • The ability to capture complex systems in CAD
    • A mindset for robust designs and safety
    • Experience authoring design documentation: requirements documents, test specifications, technical memos, and hardware design specifications for fabrication and assembly
    • The ability to drive tasks independently and communicate issues and needs clearly, while working in a fast-paced environment
    • Experience with working with supply chain and vendors

    How You'll Stand Out

    • You thrive on creativity and problem solving
    • You will be genuinely excited to work in an environment where your title does not limit your opportunity to contribute, learn and succeed
    • You operate well as part of a cross discipline team working towards a goal, not as an individual contributor doing a task
    • You have excellent interpersonal and organizational skills and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced engineering/manufacturing environment
    • You are willing to travel occasionally to help test and install the product of your labors at customer locations

What You Get Out of It

    • UPMC health coverage with FSA or HSA options
    • Comprehensive dental, vision, and life insurance
    • Fidelity 401(k) plan with employer match
    • Free catered lunch every day with a vegan option
