    AVIATION PROGRAM MANGER

    Program Overview

If you know what makes an airport terminal tick, recognize and appreciate the importance of intelligent design...we want to talk with you.

You may not know us but we've been quietly helping clients in the commercial aviation business for 30 years. AvAirPros is a privately-held, employee-owned consulting and services firm and we have an interesting, exciting, and challenging opportunity to be a key member of our Los Angeles International Airport (LAX) Program Management Team as the Design Manager, overseeing the design process for a $1.6B redevelopment program scheduled to complete in 2027.

As the Aviation Program Manager you will partner with key members of the Airline, Architects & Engineers (A/E), and Construction Managers who are all co-located in a Program Management Office. In this integrated team structure, you will promulgate the goals, objectives, and needs of the Airline, Airport, and other stakeholders as well as represent all points of view during regular interaction with representative from the Airline, A/E, General Contractor, and Airport Authority.

Building consensus is challenging. If you know airport terminals and can coalesce diverse and sometimes divisive points of view, this opportunity is an amazing career opportunity.

    What you'll work on:

You'll provide continuity through all phases of design and construction. You'll check design drawings and specifications, manage and run meetings, and build and maintain a positive working relationship with all project stakeholders. It's critical you provide the necessary direction and motivation to the entire design team and all airport stakeholders. You can expect to work in office settings, on construction sites, and throughout bustling terminals. Experience working in commercial aviation required...please and thank you.

Speaking of please...please be good at:

Owning the design workflow and process so fully informed and coordinated design plans meet the schedule and budget

Providing thoughtful comprehensive evaluations of proposed designs ensuring they fully meet and recognize the commitments

Resolving critical issues by involving the key individuals empowered to make decisions

Ensure inter-disciplinary coordination meetings are conducted so conflicts are minimized

Engage in over-the-shoulder reviews to provide an informal review of work-in-progress and timely feedback

    Leading productive project meetings

Develop and maintain a comprehensive Work Plan that describes the design milestones, sequence of tasks and deliverables prepared by the A/E in each phase providing the basis for objectively measuring the design team’s progress and its compliance with schedule milestones, as well as invoiced amounts compared to negotiated fee per phase.

Review progress schedules submitted by the Construction Manager at Risk (CMR) and stay informed regarding the progress of the Work to advise the Airline whether the progress of the Work meets such progress schedules.

Assure the A/E team has the information, feedback, and decisions needed to be successful and maintain compliance with the design schedule.

Provide coordination between A/E and other designers under contract to either the Airline or CMR as well as between A/E and the Airport’s programs in and around the Airline’s leasehold

Manage the Airport design reviews and hold Stakeholder workshops where direct and immediate feedback can be provided to the A/E Team.
