Position Overview
The position is part of the United Airlines Program Management Team based in our Newark Liberty International Airport (EWR) office working on Phase 1 of United’s Terminal Redevelopment Program (TRP), a $160 million renovation and new construction program for Terminal C. To meet United’s strategic goals, the Newark Hub needs to grow to be able to accommodate a greater number of passengers on increasingly larger aircraft. Aging infrastructure and severely limited swing spaces are key challenges facing the EWR station and United’s customers. The goal of the TRP is to develop the EWR Hub to meet strategic objectives with a minimum of disruption. The solution will be fiscally responsible, environmentally sensible, built on recently completed investments in Terminal C, provide enhancements to the customer experience, and reinforce United’s commitment to improve the environment for United’s frontline employees.
Duties and Responsibilities
Assist Overall Manager to analyze complex construction projects to determine appropriate contract strategies and construction delivery methods
Develop and analyze contracts for a portfolio of design and construction projects
Provide administrative oversight of all construction contracts
Work closely with internal and external stakeholders including, but not limited to, PMO Management, UA Finance, and Internal Audit
Monitor the performance and scope of work of multiple contracts to determine compliance to contract requirements
Review and evaluate change order proposals
Communicate contract status to relevant stakeholders
Prepare project deliverables
Skills and Experience
Knowledge and experience of construction contracts and delivery methods
7-10 years of relevant experience analyzing, developing, and monitoring construction contracts
Experience working with the airline industry preferred
Able to work effectively in a fast-paced team environment
Skilled at reading and interpreting construction contracts, plans, specifications, and other relevant documents
Strong problem solving and analytical skills as they relate to construction phasing and staging
Ability to multi-task with accuracy
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint
B.S. in Construction Management or related field required
