    ASSISTANT CONSTRUCTION PROJECT MANAGER

    Program Overview

    You may not know us but we've been quietly helping clients in the commercial aviation business for 30 years. AvAirPros is a privately-held, employee-owned consulting and services firm and we have an interesting, exciting, and challenging opportunity to join our team working on the $490M Terminal 1.5 Development Program at Los Angeles International Airport (LAX).

    What you'll be doing:

    As the Assistant Construction Project Manager you'll join a group of other AvAirPros professionals who serve as the owner representative on the project. The entire team includes folks from Southwest Airlines, Los Angeles World Airports, Hensel Phelps, PGAL and other industry experts. You will manage and coordinate participants, end users and stakeholders to ensure the building is operationally live in Q1 2021. Knowledge of building systems (mechanical, electrical, plumbing, fire protection, building automated systems, vertical transportation, lighting controls, security, baggage handling system) is required.

    In this role you'll operate with significant independence and minimal supervision but have plenty of exposure to senior management to review progress and address issues. You can expect to work in office settings, on construction sites, and throughout bustling terminals. Experience working in commercial aviation required...please and thank you.

    Speaking of please...please be good at:

    Providing oversight of building commissioning, activation, and operational readiness

    Monitor program closeout including final documentation (as-builts and record documents), permit closures, completion of punch list and deviations, turnover of attic stock, transfer of keys, and training with end users

    Responsible for ensuring that project managers properly manage the project team including A/Es, CMaRs, and other contracted entities

    Ensure A/E, CMaRs, and other contracted entities work cooperatively with the appropriate stakeholders to develop overall program scope, strategy, and requirements

    Monitor progress, assist with financial controls, and ensure quality control of the project

    Identify and evaluate alternative solutions to best meet program goals

    Ensure assigned projects are completed within budgets and schedules, while meeting client needs, business objectives, and design guidelines

    Assist in developing schedules and budgets

    Prepare memos, reports, briefings and other client deliverables that may include spreadsheets, complex graphs, charts and tables

    Compile, track, and transmit project related documents within a project file system

    Manage and run weekly meetings and provide follow-up documentation

    Interact with LAWA and LADBS, and other agencies as required to ensure that the program complies with all applicable legal requirements and regulations

    What you've done so far:

    3+ years working for a CM or GC on large complex construction projects, ideally in commercial aviation

    Gained a thorough understanding of all phases of construction project implementation

    Demonstrated strong analytical, problem solving, and decision making skills

    Developed impressive written and oral skills

    Strong attention to detail

    Worked collaboratively with clients, contractors, architects, and other industry professionals

    Mastered the art of building happy relationships and motivated productive teams

    How your built the foundation:

    BS Building Construction, Civil Engineering, Architecture or related degree

    Project Management certified is a plus

    Proficiency with program specific software (e-Builder, Prolog) is ideal
