  • Responsibilities

    SUMMARY: Complete monthly and daily staffing schedule for the nursing department to make certain the center does not fall below state minimums. Along with performing, when assigned, activities of daily living for the residents assigned, under the direction and supervision of a Charge Nurse. Responsible for assisting professional nursing in providing resident care. ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Write monthly schedule for nurses and CNAs
    • Complete daily Staffing sheets
    • Cover shifts when necessary
    • Track attendance
    • Post call-offs in the break room
    • Complete all pre-employment screenings
    • Pre-interview all nursing department applications
    • Post lost time days in break room
    • Follow work comp associates
    • Give personal care to residents.
    • Keep incontinent residents clean and dry.
    • Distributes, empties and cleans bedpans and urinals and assists residents to and from bathroom or with bedside commode. Empties catheter bags as needed.
    • Ambulates residents, assists residents in and out of chairs and wheelchairs, positions bed ridden residents according to plan of care and utilizes appropriate support devices.
    • Makes rounds and repositions residents.
    • Prepares resident for meals and assists with meal service - transports residents to and from dining room, serves trays, assists with feeding when necessary, removes trays and accurately documents residents'' intake immediately after consumption.
    • Serves nourishments and between-meal-snacks to residents as ordered and distributes ice and water rotating water pitchers and delivers pitchers to Dietary for sanitation.
    • Makes occupied and unoccupied beds and turns down beds for residents.
    • Provides skin care; keeps residents on turn schedule, uses lotion and massages as needed.
    • Checks residents'' restraints and releases to allow for activity and reapplies restraints as ordered.
    • Takes and records vital signs.
    • Answers call lights, answers questions and responds, giving appropriate care or alerts Supervisor.
    • Observes resident for any changes in condition and reports changes to Supervisor.
    • Measures and records intake and output.
    • Documents appropriate information daily on the ADL sheets.
    • Transports residents to and from activities.
    • Treats residents with dignity and always observes all residents'' rights to confidentiality.
    • Attends mandatory inservices and maintains certification.
    • Assists with orientation of new Nursing Assistants.
    • Straighten residents'' rooms and closet.
    • Cleans and returns resident care equipment to appropriate areas.
    • Removes soiled linen, rinses in the hopper and transports dirty linens to laundry.

    Required Skills

    • Walking, reaching, climbing, bending, grasping fine hand coordination, pushing and pulling, ability to distinguish smell and temperatures, ability to read and write, ability to communicate with personnel, families, residents. OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
    • Practices universal precautions at all times.
    • Adheres to safety rules and regulations.
    • Adheres to all facility and departmental policies and procedures.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.

    Required Experience

    QUALIFICATIONS:

    • Must be a High School graduate or equivalent education/experience.
    • Must be certified in the state where applying.
    • Must be capable of maintaining regular attendance.
    • Must be capable of performing the Essential Job functions of this position with or without reasonable accommodation.
    • Must be able to relate positively and favorably to residents, families, members of the community, and to work cooperatively with other associates.
    • Must have one year with Gulf Coast Health Care.
