    POSITION OVERVIEW The Compliance Manager will be accountable for the implementation, monitoring, reporting and, as appropriate, localization of the Company’s global corporate ethics and compliance policies, procedures and training in the Company’s Europe, India, Middle East and Africa (EIMEA) region. He/she will take direction from the corporate Ethics & Compliance team in the H.B. Fuller Law Department and will liaise with leaders and employees in the region, regulatory bodies and relevant third parties to ensure that H.B. Fuller adheres to the highest level of compliance and maintains its commitment to integrity in all business practices across the Region.

    The EIMEA Compliance Manager will report to the Regional Counsel -- EIMEA with a strong dotted line to the Assistant General Counsel for Ethics and Compliance, based at H.B. Fuller headquarters in the U.S. The position will be based at the Company’s regional offices in Mindelo, Portugal.

    PRIMARY DUTIES Serve as the compliance champion and advisor to region leadership and business units, working closely with the corporate Ethics and Compliance team and function stakeholders to support compliance with corporate policies and programs and with all relevant laws, regulations and rules governing the company’s business activities: • This position will help develop, and will assure implementation and monitoring of, procedures to assure the Company engages only with distributors, agents, vendors, customers and employees who are committed to our high standards of business ethics, Code of Business Conduct and global Core Policies as well as compliance with applicable U.S., EU and local laws and regulations. • The Compliance Manager will coordinate and, as appropriate, lead effective and confidential investigations of suspected ethics, compliance, Code and policy issues and violations in the region and will assure compliance with the Company’s investigation protocol, supervising outside counsel, HR, Internal Audit and other functional partners as needed. • The position will provide training to a range of audiences (up to and including leadership) through varied methods (including live, WebEx and through the Company’s Learning Center) on ethics and compliance topics, both upon request and on an as-needed basis, and pursuant to a training plan to be developed by the incumbent. This training will complement company-wide routine online ethics training, and the position will support implementation of the online training curriculum and full participation/completion by employees in region. Key training topics include anti-corruption, export controls compliance, third-party compliance, anti-trust, conflicts of interest and understanding of the Code of Business Conduct and Core Policies. • The Compliance Manager will be responsible for development, maintenance and communication of region and local policy and procedure documentation as needed according to local laws and cultural standards and to implement global and company-wide standards, and will participate in and lead compliance-related projects in partnership with the corporate Ethics & Compliance team, region Law leadership and other stakeholders across the organization as needed. • The Compliance Manager will support the continuing development and implementation of region- and company-wide data privacy and cyber-security-related policies and procedures, in partnership with the Company’s HR, IT, Sourcing and Ethics & Compliance teams, and will monitor compliance with these policies and procedures in region. • Maintenance of files and records relating to ethics and compliance processes and matters.

    Required Skills

    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS • Fluent in English (spoken and written) • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent with 7+ years’ relevant work experience, including 5+ years’ direct experience in a compliance/regulatory role developing, scoping and executing effective compliance risk management programs in a large international company • Subject matter expertise in at least two of the following: anti-bribery laws and programming, third-party compliance and diligence, export controls including embargoed country compliance, anti-boycott laws and compliance, antitrust, data privacy and GDPR • Demonstrated investigation skills including developing investigation plans, conducting interviews, collection and review of documents, etc. • Demonstrated ability to write reports and policy documents for varied audiences, and to develop and deliver PowerPoint presentations • Experience in sourcing and managing vendors in support of corporate compliance requirements • Demonstrated compliance project management experience and skills • Strong computer skills: Word, PowerPoint and Excel • Ability to travel – 25% or more

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS • Proficiency in one or more European languages in addition to English • Additional relevant credential beyond the minimum education requirements, such as certified privacy specialist, certified forensic examiner, certified ethics professional, paralegal or JD (Juris Doctor) • Experience working for U.S.-based multinational company with operations in Europe, Africa and/or the Middle East • Project management training and proficiency in use of project management software • Skills and experience in using one or more additional compliance-related systems (ethics reporting helpline, third-party compliance software, online learning software, etc.)
