    STV is currently seeking a System Safety Manager to provide technical expertise to our project management team for the implementation of company and customer system safety policies for various transit projects. The position can be located in our California, Oregon or Washington state office and be part of our Transportation and Infrastructure division.

     

     

    RESPONSIBILITIES:

     

     

    • Participate in the development and implementation of project system safety plans based on corporate policies and procedures.
    • Provide technical supervision of safety performance, qualifications and programs on a project level.
    • Develop and implement Safety and Security Certification programs for various transportation projects in accordance with the FTA guidelines.
    • Conduct preliminary hazard analysis, operating hazard analysis, reviewing/updating/developing Safety and Security Certification Plans (SSCP), and System Safety Program Plans (SSCP)
    • Create and reviews hazard analysis documents.
    • Review design drawings for safety compliance. 
    • Develop and maintain Safety and Security Certification checklists for large projects.
    • Oversee and manage System Safety Specialists and lead the safety certification process on projects, including, reviewing the situational integrated testing, pre-revenue operations of projects and ensuring compliance with applicable federal, state and local safety regulations. 
    • Interact with subordinate supervisors, clients and/or functional peer group managers, normally involving matters between functional areas, other company divisions or units, or clients and the company.
    • Lead a cooperative effort among members of a project team.

     

     

    QUALIFICATIONS:

     

     

    • Thorough knowledge of the practices, and procedures of rail system safety, assurance engineering design, construction, operation, and maintenance.
    • Knowledge of principles and practices of transit safety certification programs, applicable local, state, and federal laws, rules, and regulations governing transit safety policies, fire/safety, and OSHA
    • Experience with light rail equipment and systems including train control, traction power, signaling, vehicles, ventilation; and management of transit safety.
    • Minimum of 5-year experience and a Bachelor’s Degree - Safety, Engineering, Business, or other related field
    • Minimum of 5 years’ experience in bus/rail transit system safety, systems assurance programs, OSHA programs, transit safety certification programs, transit fire/life safety.
    • Minimum of 3 years supervising or managing one or more transit systems safety or assurance programs; and transit safety courses desirable.
