Position Summary:
Performs a variety of design/drafting assignments. Investigates and procures all data required to develop a design. Prepares preliminary sketches and/or drawings. Applies all preliminary information and contributing data to develop or lead others to develop final drawings. Participates in the development of original designs or adaptations requiring specialized experience.
Primary Duties:
- Confers with Engineers and other Design and Drafting personnel to review drawings and answer questions pertaining to major drafting and design assignments.
- Provides drafting and design related guidance and work leadership for day to day activities and projects.
- Provides technical input such as project alternatives, system/feasibility studies, cost estimates, design and equipment operating parameters.
- Coordinates drafting and design projects for both internal and external Drafting personnel.
- Prepares detail construction drawings for major components using design notes, sketches, and specifications.
- Performs engineering surveys at project sites, prepares sketches and drawings from field notes.
- Performs final field inspections of completed construction to assure compliance with design drawings.
- Reviews and maintains the drafting guidelines and specifications.
- Ensures drafting procedures and instructions are followed.
- May perform drafting work.
Requirements:
- Associates Degree in Engineering Technology or related field.
- Three (3) years Drafting related and three (3) years Design experience.
- Valid State Drivers License.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bentley MicroStation experience

- Ability to communicate effectively in speech and writing with members at all levels throughout the organization and outside professionals.
- Self motivated with the ability to work with minimal supervision.
- In depth knowledge and experience in relevant engineering/construction processes.
- Strong computer skills.
- Ability to manage multiple projects with shifting priorities.
- Ability to provide direction and guidance to others (e.g., Drafting team, external contractors, etc.).
- Ability to think creatively in order to propose new solutions for old and new issues.
- Ability to work within stringent deadlines.
- Ability to facilitate, coordinate, and negotiate, as required.
Working Conditions:
- Primary work in office environment.
- May be required to work non-standard work schedules including weekends and holidays.
- Based upon department resources, the nature of the work, and the size of the department, the ability to differentiate colors may be required for some positions.
- May require travel.
