    JMT is seeking a Traffic Project Manager to oversee the traffic engineering group in the Raleigh, NC office. They will be responsible for growing the traffic and transportation planning market in their region. We are seeking a hardworking and dedicated individual who is looking for a leadership opportunity. 

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Conduct and coordinate the production of traffic signal plans, signing and pavement marking plans, roadway lighting and electrical distribution plans, intelligent transportation systems (ITS) plans, and maintenance of traffic plans to the Plans, Specifications, and Estimates (PS&E) stage
    • Perform various traffic engineering studies such as determining the need for traffic signals, analyzing high accident locations, performing traffic analysis, performing alternative evaluations, generating traffic reports and studies, conducting transportation demand needs and forecasts using regional planning models, and improving signal timing and signal coordination
    • Hire and develop traffic department staff including design engineers, project engineers and project managers; coordinate with the national traffic engineering practice for strategic growth
    • Grow the traffic engineering practice in North Carolina with various clients to include NCDOT and local agencies
    • Support other disciplines within JMT with traffic engineering expertise.

    Required Skills

    • Excellent business development skills are required
    • Practical knowledge of construction of traffic control devices is desirable
    • Practical knowledge of the transportation operations of North Carolina is desirable
    • Ability to successfully work in a dynamic and fast-paced team environment

    Required Experience

    • Candidate should have 10+ years of experience in the above listed duties
    • BSCE required
    • PE required
    • Experience in working with NCDOT and/or local municipalities is required
    • Experience using analysis and simulation modeling, planning and CAD software (such as HCS, SYNCHRO, VISSIM and MicroStation) is required
    • Engineering management experience is preferred
    • Experience in designing intersection and roadway projects is desired

     

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    Work is performed within a general office environment 95% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment.   

     

    Field work is required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required as needed.
