POSITION SUMMARY
This position will support lean and manufacturing initiatives. The duties will include building and installing stands, benches, information boards and other items to support lean initiatives. This position carries some duties similar to an assembler, carpenter, and maintenance technician. The duties will also include involvement with lean planning, training, and data collection activities.
DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES
Support production teams with quality and lean program implementation and maintenance tasks
Support installation and set-up of lean equipment/projects
Build benches, information boards, and other items, tape floors, identify equipment, perform 5S, etc.
Participate in and support designated Kaizen events and activities
Ordering supplies/ parts to support lean projects
Participate in internal lean training classes
Maintaining a clean, organized, and safety of maintenance shop and facility
Engage in and constantly be on the lookout for product and process improvements
Conduct process quality and lean audits
Engage in problem solving opportunities
Create and update work Instructions as needed
May help maintain quality and lean manufacturing databases
SKILLS:
Must have wood working skills and be experienced in mechanical assembly
Must have good problem solving skills
Able to work in a team environment and work productively in team assignments
Must always keep safety number one when working
Good interpersonal and communication skills
Willing to learn and apply lean manufacturing principles and techniques
Ability to read, understand and follow instructions.
Good project and task follow through
Able to work in a change oriented (dynamic) work environment
Continuous Improvement mindset a plus
Results oriented
Must be engaged and be able to prioritize
Must have general math skills
Capacity to work independently as well as within a team-oriented and collaborative environment
Good MS Office Programs knowledge--particularly Excel
Metal working skills a plus
Operation of forklift a plus (experience and/ or forklift operator certificate required)
EDUCATION:
High School Diploma/GED required
EXPERIENCE
Minimum 3-5 years related experience
Proven experience with woodworking and light construction
