    JMT is seeking a motivated Water Resources Project Engineer with 5-10 years of design experience to join the DC office.  The successful candidate will be well-versed across the water resources discipline with demonstrated design and management experience in Green Stormwater Infrastructure (GSI), drainage, erosion and sediment control, stormwater management design, and permitting with the supporting capabilities to perform a variety of design tasks in the civil engineering and environmental permitting field. 

     

    ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

    • Develop roadway and site grading plans
    • Develop drainage design and stormwater management design
    • Responsible for erosion and sedimentation control / NPDES permitting
    • Responsible for construction staging and sequencing plans
    • Conduct watershed studies and hydrologic and hydraulic analysis
    • Prepare Contract Documents including Plans, Specifications and Cost Estimates
    • Design and inspect traditional and innovative green stormwater infrastructure and SWM BMPs in both urban and rural environments
    • Coordinate with contractors, outside consultants, government agencies, and JMT staff from multiple locations and technical disciplines is expected

    Required Skills

    • Proficiency in Microstation and/or AutoCAD drafting
    • Proficiency in MS Office Software
    • Excellent written and oral communication skills

    Required Experience

    • 5-10 years of professional experience in the Water Resources field required
    • Professional Engineer required with ability to obtain Licensure in the District of Columbia within 2 years
    • Bachelor of Science in Civil or Environmental Engineering with emphasis in Water Resources from an ABET accredited engineering program required
    • Hydrologic Modeling experience using TR55 / TR20 and Rational Methodologies
    • GSI / Stormwater Management design experience
    • Erosion and Sediment Control design experience
    • 2-D Modeling experience using SWMM or comparable model preferred
    • Watershed modeling, MS4 permitting, and CSO reduction strategies experience preferred

     

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    Work is performed within a general office environment 95% of the time. Work is generally sedentary in nature, but may require occasional standing and walking. Lighting and temperature are adequate and there are no hazardous or unpleasant conditions caused by noise, dust, etc. within the office environment. 

    Field work is required on occasion where work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions. Some lifting (up to 25 lbs) may be required as needed.
