  • Responsibilities

    POSITION OVERVIEW:

    Provide Command and Control, Communications, Computers, Intelligence, Surveillance and Reconnaissance (C4ISR) engineering support for Navy High Frequency (HF) and Ultra High Frequency (UHF) communications system.

    PRIMARY/MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):

    • Perform system configuration, diagnostics, repairs and verification in CONUS and OCONUS Government facilities (approximately 5% travel).
    • Work in SPAWAR lab, and field support/shipboard sites to configure, troubleshoot, test and verify proper operation of Navy Battle Force Tactical Network (BFTN) systems using HF and UHF communication systems.
    • Develop / review system interconnect drawings.
    • Develop / fabricate prototype devices in support of research and development and fleet support.
    • Support System Operational Verification Tests (SOVTs) as well as testing and training for System Operational Tests (SOTs), Deploying Group Systems Integration Testing (DGSIT), and Composite Training Unit Exercises (COMPTUEXs) aboard US Navy ships.
    • Provide the status of assigned tasks via both prepared and ad hoc oral briefings to customer and project manager.
    • Perform routine and as required maintenance per available Planned Maintenance System (PMS) documentation on Navy HF and UHF communication systems.

     

    Required Skills

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS AND EXPERIENCE:

    • The Electronics Technician shall have four plus (4+) years of recent experience in a Navy C4ISR environment.
    • Must have experience and demonstrate In-Service sustainment engineering functions (e.g. configuration, evaluation, testing, troubleshooting, and maintenance) of electronic equipment and systems; support the Life Cycle requirements; and providing technical support for Navy C4ISR.
    • Previous experience configuring and troubleshooting BFTN.
    • Must have a solid understanding of communications theory and techniques.
    • Experience with Microsoft Word Excel and Viso.
    • Experience in the use of multi-meters, o-scopes, spectrum analyzers and associated test equipment.
    • Active Secret Clearance

     PREFERRED SKILLS:

    • Must have experience with Microsoft Office Suite
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Prior BFTN experience is highly preferred
