  • Responsibilities

    The Contractor personnel completing work requirements on the airfield shall have a minimum of 3 years work experience and certification in maintaining airfield lighting.

    • THE CONTRACTOR SHALL BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE FACILITIES AT THE AIRFIELD. THE FOLLOWING NAVIGATIONAL EQUIPMENT SHALL BE MAINTAINED BY THE CONTRACTOR:

     

    1. Navigational lighting to include the appurtenant wiring, controls, regulators, regulator cubicle, and equipment, including the branch circuit protective device for the step-up (2400 volt secondary) transformer and the branch circuit protective device for the 240 volt constant current regulators.
    2. Auxiliary lighting (e.g., wind cone and wind tee) and pole mounted lights.
    3. Rotational beacon light including the fixture and its controls.
    4. Aviation obstruction lighting, except for that installed on steel structure towers that are dedicated to communication equipment and lighting installed on utility pole structureTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.     • One year certificate from college or technical school; or five to seven years journeyman level electrician experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES

    • LANGUAGE SKILLS: Must be fluent in English. Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos. Ability to write simple correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and other employees of the organization.
    • MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
    • REASONING ABILITY: Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
    • CLEARANCES, CERTIFICATIONS, TRAINING, ETC.: Valid driver's license and safe driving record. Certification, license or registration may be required if necessary to perform job functions – Electrician License/Certification. Facility clearance including official background checks is required.
    • MATERIALS AND EQUIPMENT: Ability to safely utilize, operate and maintain hand and power tools common to the electrical trade. Ability to interpret and apply NEC, local codes, blueprints, wiring diagrams and engineering drawings. Knowledge of operation I installation of a variety of complete electrical systems I equipment.
    • Plans new or modified installations to minimize waste of materials, provide access for future maintenance, and avoid unsightly, hazardous, and unreliable wiring, consistent with specifications and local electrical codes. Prepares sketches showing location of wiring and equipment, or follows diagrams or blueprints, ensuring that concealed wiring is installed before completion of future walls, ceilings, and flooring.
    • Measures, cuts, bends, threads, assembles, and installs electrical conduit. Pulls wiring through conduit. Splices wires by stripping insulation from terminal leads, twisting or soldering wires together, and applying tape or terminal caps. Connects wiring to lighting fixtures and power equipment.
    • Installs control and distribution apparatuses such as switches, relays, and circuit-breaker panels. Connects power cables to equipment, such as electric range or motor, and installs grounding leads.
    • Tests continuity of circuit to ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components with testing instruments such as ohmmeter, battery and buzzer, multimeter, voltmeter and oscilloscope. Observes functioning of installed equipment or system to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation, or replacement. Repairs faulty equipment or systems.
