  • Responsibilities

    JOB SUMMARY:   Partners with Sales Manager to oversee, manage, coordinate, and provide hands on leadership for store sales.  Ensures company goal’s and standards are met or exceeded; including but not limited to developing and maintaining a top sales team as well as create a unique selling culture that drives profitable sales.  Assistant Sales Managers work to develop store sales projections, select, hire, train, develop and manage quality sales associates.  Directly oversee the training and development of an assigned sale.

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    PRIMARY

    • Assist Sales Manager (SM) in monitoring daily, weekly, and monthly store sales results and in building realistic plans to address.
    • Assist SM in monitoring and approving turnover (TO) process by ensuring sales associates are matched appropriately with guests while providing “on the spot” coaching to help close sales
    • Keeps abreast of company products (i.e. product knowledge, pricing, and margins),
    • Reviews daily sales results with associates and coaches to improve next day performance; updates leadership on progress.
    • Working with the Visual Merchandising team, ensures the proper product and placement of merchandise in the store to maximize sales; keeps abreast of product knowledge, pricing and margins, and promotes furniture protection sales.

     

    SECONDARY

    • Maintains store environment (internal/external) that reflects our “brand” and corporate operating procedures
    • Partners with Sales Manager to plan and execute effective sales meetings; ensures they are interactive, motivating, and informative.
    • Ensures the “guest experience” meets company standards.

    MANAGEMENT/SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES (including job titles of direct reports):

    Assists the Sales Manager with the selection, hiring, training, development, and management of quality sales associates. Provides daily coaching to all staff, train and develop sales team to exceed guests’ expectations, driving customer retention, average sale, and repeat purchases.

    WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL ABILITIES:  Work performed in a store environment. Normal amount of sitting, standing, or walking, average mobility to move around an office environment including the office, showroom floor, and back room, able to conduct normal amount of work at a computer.  

             

    Required Experience

    EDUCATION/CERTIFICATION/LICENSURE:  High school diploma or equivalent is required; Associate (2-yr) or Bachelor’s (4-yr) degree in Business Administration, Marketing, or related field is preferred; or combination of education, training, and experience.

    EXPERIENCE:  A minimum of three (3) years of multiple category retail sales experience or related sales experience is required. Experience in furniture retail or high ticket commission sales is preferred
