JOB DESCRIPTIONS:
- The Sr. Network Security Engineer will participate in the research, analysis, design, implementation, testing, and troubleshooting of cybersecurity solutions in large and complex data networks in support of client systems.
- This person will assume a lead role in developing and designing enhancements or additions to existing cybersecurity controls solutions, configuration, and implementation for utility clients.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Cooperate with system development and infrastructure units in identifying security risks and the appropriate controls for day-to-day network operation, and creation of end-to-end application security policies on Smart Grid networks.
- Interact with clients (sometimes non-technical clients) to complete current and future communication needs.
- Assist more senior resources in designing, implementing and supporting security-focused tools and services, Event Management and Correlation Systems analysis, and secure remote connectivity.
- Assist in providing subject matter expertise and technology support for all project and application related Information Security needs and security compliance efforts.
- Participate in developing training materials for general security awareness and specific security technology training and mentor others on the Telecommunication team.
- Understand, advocate, and support IT Security strategies.
- Assist in development of Utility Smart Grid Security standards and deployment practices.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
5+ years in Information Technology and Information Security as Security Engineer or Application Architect with Security knowledge and skill.
- Experience gathering and documenting requirements from different business units, stakeholders and engineering teams.
- Detailed knowledge of common networking protocols and encryption services and how these serve elevated security posture for a network (TCIP/IP, DNS, SNMP, 802.1x, SSL, IPSEC, etc.).
- Knowledge of data classification and its impact on the security design of networking solutions.
- Hands-on implementation experience deploying security solutions including firewalls, intrusion detection, access controls, etc.
- Experience with security policy development and impact upon data networking infrastructure planning and deployment.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills toward both technical and non-technical audiences.
- Practical hands-on design and implementation familiarity for NERC-CIP, NIST, and/or FERC compliant architectures.
- Experience providing engineering and security standards development and support for large-scale complex data networks.
- BS degree in Information Security/ Computer Science/Electronics and Engineering /Information Technology.
- Recognized industry cybersecurity and network engineering certifications (CISSP, CISM, CISA, CEH, CRISC, CHFI, COMP TIA Security+, SANS GSEC, etc.).
- Understanding of security auditing practices for network infrastructures.
