SUMMARY:
The Senior IT Network Engineer Solution Architect designs, engineers, and maintains nation-wide enterprise networks to provide secure and reliable communications. The Engineer/Architect analyzes customer requirements and applies industry leading technology, methodology, and architecture in the development of detailed solutions. Network Security must be expertly incorporated into all aspects of protocols utilized, design and analysis of new or existing complex IT solutions primarily for U.S. Government customers. These solutions may include providing visibility, oversight, and management of mission critical network infrastructure spanning multiple sites and countries; troubleshooting inter- and intra- theater links; or researching and deploying emerging technologies to optimize networks, including the use of software defined networking and network virtualization.
This position may include being involved with the operations and maintenance of large campus LAN networks, multiple datacenter locations, multi-site layer 2 LAN extensions for COOP/DR, and BGP/MPLS based WAN supporting over 100 remote sites. Network devices include equipment from Cisco, Juniper, Brocade, F5, A10, Palo Alto, Harris/LOS microwave, VSAT/SATCOM equipment, CWDM, DWDM, STM/SONET and other technology.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Provides network solutions, proposals, and engineering support for the design, configuration, implementation, operational management, and troubleshooting of enterprise networks, including network monitoring and cybersecurity controls. This includes conducting Enterprise level Network Engineering and IP address/vlan management for the theater.
Demonstrated competence with the following protocols and technologies: Routing protocols (OSPF, EIGRP, BGP, DMVPN, MPLS) and Multicast PIM/SM protocols. Switching protocols (Spanning Tree, MSTP, PVST, RPVST+, MAB, VRF, VLAN and private VLAN). DMVPN technologies (NHRP phase 1-3, per tunnel QoS, ISAKMP/IKE, IPSEC, EZVPN and site-to-site VPN). IP services (AAA, QoS, IP SLA, EEM, Syslog, HSRP, VRRP, GLBP and NTP). Network management tools and protocols (NetFlow, SNMPv3, Cisco ACS / ISE).
QUALIFICATIONS:
Maintains DoD 8570.01-M compliance for IAT Level III.
Demonstrates at least five (5) years’ enterprise-level experience collectively in each of the following protocols and technologies areas:
LICENSES & CERTIFICATIONS:
CCIE preferred.
KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
Fluent with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Visio).
