Position Summary:
Under supervision, the Utility Operations Trainee is responsible for performing routine activities in a trainee capacity while gaining continuous knowledge of utility systems and equipment as assigned.
Primary Duties:
- Learn utility systems fundamentals.
- Apply on the job training and observations to assigned function.
- Observe and assist experienced members in performing their assigned work.
- Remain motivated to continue to learn new systems and skills for continuation of self-improvement.
Requirements:
- Associate's Degree in a technical discipline OR
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent combined with one of the following:
- One (1) year experience in a technical field
- A certificate of completion from a vocational trade institution in a technical field
- Prior military service as documented on DD Form 214
- Valid State Driver's

- Ability to effectively troubleshoot systems and processes.
- Proven organizational skills.
- Mechanical, electrical or automation aptitude.
- Ability to think logically and orderly.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively including active listening.
- Ability to clearly write accurate and routine descriptions of work performed.
- Ability to read, interpret and follow documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
- Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure.
- Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
Working Conditions:
- Willing to accept a permanent position located at any OGE facility.
- May be required to work overtime and weekends and holidays.
- May be required to work non-standard work schedules to include on- call and call-outs.
- May require travel.
- May be required to work at heights up to and exceeding thirty (30) feet, underground and in confined spaces.
- May be exposed to extreme conditions and inclement weather.
- Required to work in a multi-craft crew including Mechanics, Electricians, Insulators, Instrument & Controls Technicians, etc. who work together to support operations of the utility.
- May be required to cross-train in various crafts and operation department at various times of the year.
