  • Responsibilities

    POSITION OVERVIEW:  

    Responsible for administering the Center’s Behavior Management System.

    PRIMARY/MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS):

    • Supports and adheres to Zero Tolerance Policy.
    • Ensures that Center disciplinary system conforms to Job Corps policies and guidelines. Reviews all incident reports and dispositions them to the appropriate level of the Center's disciplinary system for resolution.
    • Coordinates aspects of the Fact Finding Board process. Administers sanctions for disciplinary infractions in accordance with the Department of Labor, Corporate, and Center guidelines. Establishes internal controls to ensure that sanctions have been completed in a timely manner. Provides training for staff that are appointed to the Fact Finding boards.
    • Ensures communication with the parents/guardians of minors on all behavior management actions.
    • Maintains student disciplinary files.
    • Informs appropriate staff of student behavioral incidents.
    • Submits all reports accurately and within established time-frames.
    • Provides weekly standard reports to management and staff.
    • Uses the Center Information System to track student behavior, identify trends and provide leadership in establishing proactive approaches to prevent negative student behavior.
    • Develops and implements incentive programs to include a phase system, awards ceremony, on the spot incentives, and others to motivate students towards positive behavior. Ensures that the program has the same relevance as the discipline system. Ensures that staff members are completing positive incident reports.
    • Provides staff training on Center including: disciplinary policies and procedures, incident report writing, positive student de-escalation techniques, and modeling monitoring and mentoring.
    • Meets with new students and staff to provide training in the behavior management system and zero tolerance policies.
    • Ensure staff members have adequate training to complete key areas of responsibilities. Cross-trains department employees. Ensures that departmental staff completes all DOL, Corporate and Center training as required.
    • Develops Others: delegates tasks or responsibilities for the purpose of developing others’ abilities, reassures and encourages performance improvement, provides timely coaching.
    • Develops and implements Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for the CSIO department.

     

    SECONDARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    • Acts as liaison between Center and judicial agencies/courts; solicits legal representation for students; and coordinates bail bond activities.
    • Schedules staff meetings at regular intervals, ensures meeting minutes are accurate.
    • Participates in CMT, ensures that all staff participate in CMT.
    • Provide support to the Career Development Services System (CDSS) department to ensure student job readiness.
    • Coordinates the SGA Behavior Modification committee. Works with the judicial branch of Student Government in the establishment and enforcement of rules and regulations effecting students. Provides training to students who serve on the Fact Finding Board (FFB) and to students who have peer review panel responsibilities.
    • Ensures equipment assigned to the department is properly accounted for and maintained in good condition. Notifies the Center Director of repairs/costs above routine expenditures.
    • Monitors budget for the department and maintains spending limits as applicable. Tracks spending of staff each month.
    • Periodically audits staff time sheets to ensure compliance with corporate time keeping policy.
    • Ensures accuracy and timely submission of all employee timesheets so as to remain in compliance with company policy.
    • All other duties as assigned.

    Required Skills

    REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:         

    • Associates Degree in Social Sciences or 2 years equivalent experience.
    • Valid state driver’s license.
    • CPR/First Aid certifications

     

    PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:

    • Bachelor’s degree in Social Science.

    Required Experience
