    MISSION / SUMMARY:

    With limited supervision from the Sr. Research & Development Manager, the Technical Services Supervisor is responsible for design, development, and implementation of new machinery and process solutions in support of launching new packaging concepts. This person brings new machinery and process solutions from the concept stage through the commercialization stage. The Technical Services Supervisor also assists in the further development of existing and new GPI packaging concepts with a focus on bringing these concepts to a manufacturable conclusion.

     

    JOB FUNCTION: Job functions include, but are not limited to the following.

    1. Manages the mechanical and process engineering aspects of the R&D packaging development process by composing detailed plans, timelines, and budgets to address project(s) scope and goals. Coordinates work within the R&D team to achieve project timelines, including the management of direct reports.

    2. Develops cost models for new packaging machinery and processes, including capital estimation/requirements.

    3. Leads R&D activities where mechanical/process/industrial engineering expertise is required for obtaining new business objectives.

    4. Successfully manages several projects simultaneously, keeping extreme focus on customer commitments and project timelines/milestones.

    5. Writes materials, manufacturing, and performance specifications for new packaging machines and processes.

    6. Composes detailed presentations on project(s) progress. Leads discussions on project(s), and presents updates/reports to senior staff and customers.

    7. Occasionally meets with customers providing engineering support for new packaging initiatives.

    Required Skills

    BS in Mechanical, Process, or Industrial Engineering. Proficient with engineering software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, etc. Proficient with MS office software, including MSProject.

    Required Experience

    Minimum of 7-10 years experience in an industrial/manufacturing role.

    Person must have strong mechanical aptitude and hands-on experience constructing and fabricating specialized machines. Experience with typical machine shop tools (mills, lathes, etc) a plus.
